Lower back pain is common, but not "normal."
Pain is your body's way of giving you information. There are different types of pain, and understanding what each sensation means is critical to understanding what to do about it.
The majority of adults will have chronic lower back problems at some point in their life. Is that you? Sitting, poor posture, certain sports, and more are common causes. The body can only tolerate so much before it decides it can't do this anymore. Something needs to change.
Yoga for the Lower Back will give you the understanding and tools that you need to make a difference, in both your body and your life.
How often has lower back pain:
held you back from participating in your favorite activities?
kept you from playing with your kids or grandkids?
interrupted your sleep, making you toss and turn all night?
made you feel exhausted by the end of the day?
Don't let lower back discomfort keep you from living your life the way you want to. Yoga for the Lower Back can get you back to feeling strong and confident in your lower back stability.
Lower back pain doesn't have to hold you back. The more you know, the easier it is to do something when you have a flare, or when you wake up sore and stiff.
Yoga strengthens your back and your core to bring stability to a precarious lower back. When your body knows how to move, you can be assured that your functionality won't be compromised. A little knowledge goes a long way toward helping you get out of pain and back into your life.

Who am I?
Hi! I'm Janine Agoglia, owner and instructor at Purple Room Yoga, an online yoga studio for active adults over 50 who want to stay active for the long term.
I have been practicing and teaching yoga since 1995 and am also an orthopedic acupuncturist. I understand the causes of many types of lower back pain and discomfort, and what to help you feel empowered when it comes to your lower back.
When I turned 39, I started having lower back pain. It turns out I had weak glutes and my body was compensating. Through years of strengthening and stretching with yoga, and learning what not to do, I now, at age 54, live without pain.
I want that for you, that's why I created Yoga for the Lower Back.
A balanced approach
Yoga for the Lower Back teaches you the reasons why your lower back might hurt so that you can do something about it. It also gives you multiple practice videos to be able to put your knowledge into action.
Work at your own pace, slowly increasing your strength and mobility over time.
Receive guidance and support on your specific journey toward lower back freedom.
15 practice videos
These videos start you off slowly, with short classes that meet you where you are. Build core strength mindfully, no endless crunches. It's common for the lower back to compensate when the core muscles are weak. Strengthening slowly, with intention, builds support for your lower back going forward.
Mobility, or lack thereof, also affects how your lower back functions. Years of sitting at a desk, playing a one sided sport like tennis or golf, or simply leading an asymmetrical life can lead to poor posture that can affect your lower back.
Stretching gently with purpose can relieve lower back pain, and give you the mobility that your hips and pelvis require so that you don't rely on your lower back to do the work it's not meant to do.
Take 2-3 of classes per week, at your convenience, You will repeat each set of classes 3+ times over the course of a few weeks. When you feel ready to move on to the next set, you do.
You will have lifetime access to these classes to revisit as many times as you like. Add these classes to your normal exercise routine to keep your back strong and healthy.
