
Celebrate the Summer Solstice with
Sun Salutations!
The Summer Solstice is the longest day of the year, why not celebrate with a Salute to the Sun?
Each class will focus on a few of the poses that make up Sun Salutations, so that by the time you get to the Summer Solstice, you'll be able to put them together and flow!
Now is the perfect time to get back into your yoga practice, or start for the first time. This 3 week experience will give you a taste of what Vinyasa yoga is all about. Learn a few poses at a time then put it all together at the end in one seamless flow. Learn breath control and how to connect your breath to your movements. You will finish feeling calm, connected, energized, and strong.
These short classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays will culminate in a Sun Salutation flow on the Sunday of the Summer Solstice! Whether you are a brand new beginner or have been practicing for years, all levels of experience are welcome!

My online yoga studio is for active adults over 50 who want to stay active with yoga!
Sun Salutations are a wonderful way to move and breathe while building strength and increasing mobility. I began practicing yoga when I was 23. Now, as a 54 year old woman, I understand how important it is to keep your body strong and mobile. You gotta use it or lose it!
Breathing and flowing is my favorite way to move. Connecting the breath with movement leaves me feeling strong, grounded, and in my body. Anxiety leaves with the flow of my body and breath. You can feel that too!

Details:
15 minute yoga classes every Tuesday and Thursday that break down different aspects of Sun Salutations. Learn to connect breath to movement while learning the proper alignment for each pose.
The final class on Sunday, June 21 will connect all of the poses together into one seamless flow to celebrate the longest day of the year.

Why Sun Salutations?
Sun Salutations, known as Surya Namaskar in sanskrit, are a relatively modern sequence of poses that started in the early 20th century. Different teachers have modified the sequence over the years, so there are many versions of what is commonly referred to as Sun Salutations.
All variations alternate upward and downward movements, forward bends and backward bends, which are done on either an inhale or exhale. Connecting the breath with the movement creates a moving meditation.
These sequences are meant to be repeated multiple times, which is what we'll do on the Summer Solstice. When you drop into the movement flow, your mind clears, and all you feel is the pose and your breath. A beautiful way to connect to yourself on the longest day of the year. Creating this rhythmic flow loosens up stiffness in the body, gets the blood flowing, and builds the strength and mobility that benefits all bodies over 50.
