Students and trainees in cancer research: show why your research matters to patients!
SCIENTIFIC COMMUNICATION OUTREACH COMPETITION
Eligibility:
Graduate students (master’s, doctoral), postdoctoral fellows, and clinical residents/trainees
Any discipline related to cancer research
Must be enrolled at a Quebec institution OR conducting their research in Quebec
Applications in French or English are accepted

Application process
Applicants must first submit an application form that includes: the project title, a short biography, a plain-language summary of the research, and an explanation of the relevance of the research for people affected by cancer.
Submit your video
Candidates must submit a 3-minute plain-language video presenting their research. The video may be submitted at the same time as the application or separately, provided it is received by the indicated deadline.
Prepare a final presentat
Individuals selected for the Top 5 will be invited to prepare a 10minute in-depth oral presentation, still delivered in clear and accessible language, and presented live at the Coalition’s Annual Conference.

Evaluation and selection process
Jury evaluation
All eligible applications will be reviewed by an independent jury. Based on predefined evaluation criteria, the jury will select a Top 10 from all submissions.
Public voting
The 10 finalist videos will be posted online for a period of one week and submitted to a public vote (members of the Coalition and patient partners will be invited to vote). At the end of this period, the 5 finalists will be determined.
Final presentations
The 5 finalists will be invited to present an in-depth version (10 minutes), still delivered in plain and accessible language, of their research at the Coalition’s Annual Conference on March 9, 2026.
