Local Area Plans - Update on Draft Bylaw 4705

Public Meeting: April 14, 5 - 7pm at Ocean Front Suites

Why This Matters for Area D

The Cowichan Valley Regional District is moving forward with Draft Bylaw 4705, which proposes updates to Schedule B of the Official Community Plan (OCP). The OCP sets the long-term vision for land use, growth, and community development in our area.

Below is a simple overview of what happens next:

Board Consideration

The CVRD Board will give the bylaw formal readings. This allows elected officials to review, debate, and refine the proposed changes.

Referrals to Agencies and First Nations

The draft bylaw is circulated to member municipalities, First Nations, and provincial agencies for technical review and comment.

Public Engagement

Residents are invited to review the proposed changes and provide feedback by April 24th. Community input is an important part of the process and helps shape the final outcome.

Public Information Meeting – Area D, Cowichan Bay & Koksilah Village

Area D residents are invited to attend a Public Information Meeting:

Revisions and Final Adoption

After reviewing feedback, staff may revise the draft. The Board will then consider second and third readings. If approved, the bylaw will be adopted and will guide future planning and development decisions.
