This project started out as a test to see if I can create an income on my work whilst not restricting the use using conventional copyright methods. A modern artist has two choices, either to publish and be copied or not to publish and not be copied. The system as it is makes it very hard to gain visibility and litigation against copyright theft is prohibitively expensive for most artists. So it doesn't work.designs and art work as a creative resource for other crafts people like myself as well as to supplement my income.
Majority of my work has been released under a Creative Commons Attribution only license. This means you are free to use my designs commercially and build upon them. Attribution is only required in online publication, listing desrciptions or social media. This is important to for me ad not to accidentally loose authorship on my more original work.
When purchasing a download you are not paying for the license to use it, but for the convenience of having a ready to use easy, clean file that saves you time. You are also directly supporting the artist who created and digitised their work. If you like what I do and feel like I should be paid more, there is a button below to donate more money to support my work as an artist and craftsman.
I send emails out very infrequently. The only reason is to update you on new designs and to notify you if there are any changes to the designs I offer.
I allow commercial use of my work. One of the main reasons was that it was difficult for crafts people like myself to find artwork they can use in their craft, without worry about having a license. Saying that, it would be amazing if you do find great commercial success using my work, to voluntarily donate 1% of the sale price back to the artist. This rate is less than your average transaction fee by your selling platform.
