What my readers say

An excellent analysis of a parable of the worlds most important man. The analysis of 1st century Jewish cultural context of the parable was the greatest and most revealing thing that you get from the book. You will see the parable through the eyes of its first hearers, those who it was originally told to, the pharisees.

I really enjoyed this book. The author makes clear how The Parable of the Prodigal Son was a response to the Pharisees' objection to Jesus' preaching to sinners. Jesus tells the Pharisees three parables about lost things: A lost sheep; a lost coin; and a lost, "dead" son who we call, "the prodigal." These three parables all highlight the rejoicing in heaven that takes place when the lost are saved.

The author has done a remarkable job explaining salvation utilizing the parable of a wayward son and a forgiving father. There is an evidence of forgiveness throughout the book. Evidence that clearly points to God's reaction when we return to him from our sin.
