Why am I doing this?
So, my sister is getting married (the first out of four daughters, eek!) - and as exciting as it's been, it's been equally as chaotic and overwhelming.
From locking in venues and accommodation to remembering what exactly goes on the thaal for the Maiyaan, there's so much to juggle. And of course, it all needs to happen on time (some things a whole year in advance).
I actually love planning events: I live for spreadsheets, mood-boards and late-night DIY projects. I love getting creative and making an experience everyone can enjoy. I've helped plan birthdays, baby showers, engagement parties... but nothing quite like this. A full-scale Indian wedding is a whole other beast.
I'm a very visual person, and I need structure when I'm working. But while there's plenty of planning content out there, I couldn't find anything that offered something comprehensive for Punjabi or Sikh weddings.
So, I started building my own.
It began as a giant checklist and guest list tracker (I even had hotel room assignments in there haha). But the deeper I got into my research, the more I thought: Why doesn't this already exist? If we're feeling stressed, other families surely are too.
That's how Baraat and Bliss was born. A digital planner/binder made to simplify, streamline and support Indian wedding planning, without the hefty price tag of a real wedding planner.
