The first BFH owned, Key Worker only Co-Living home is coming to Liverpool, L13, Summer 2026!

Lets replicate this for our Sussex Key Workers!

As a Sussex born and bred Key worker myself with almost 20 years service, i want to help as many of my fellow key workers as possible.

I understand the need for safe and secure housing, with like minded people who understand shift work and whose professions make the vetting process a little less stressful!

As such i want to bring my model to Sussex!

I know the need is here and therefore i will be sourcing already constructed HMO properties (max 6 beds) around Sussex, in order to house key workers that have registered with me. I cant promise they will be as eco-friendly as #ProjectBrooklands (BFH's first project under construction and designed specifically for key workers - see below for details!), however it will be a close second!

The important element is that all housemates will be key workers only, and a mini community is created.

Key Workers Only!

Are you a key worker? Are you struggling to find decent rental accommodation? Are you finding it difficult to find appropriate house mates due to your profession??

As a key worker myself these are the problems I have faced for almost 20 years. In some emergency services staff have to declare who they reside with & all occupants personal details for vetting/ security clearance/ DBS purposes. How do you therefore find suitable house mates especially if you're new to an area, if your living circumstances have changed (eg a relationship break down), or if you just started out in your career? It’s vey difficult!

There is currently no assistance for key workers within the UK rental market, yet key workers are estimated to make up one third of the UK's current workforce. Key workers are finding it increasingly difficult to find suitable housing which has reportedly caused a huge problem with the recruitment & retention of staff in those professions. As a result, local workforce stability around the UK is greatly affected. A recent report by the NHS Homes Alliance noted that ’the lack of available affordable, quality homes in appropriate locations’ was ’a common theme’ impacting staff recruitment & retention.

#ProjectBrooklands is the flagship home for BFH's Key workers only housing model. It consists of the following, designed specifically for key workers:

  • Six generous sized bedrooms, each with private ensuite, all designed to a high standard. Five bedrooms have tea stations comprising of kitchen cupboards, sink, worktop and fridge - bridging the gap between double room and Studio facilities.

  • Fully equipped Shared kitchen with modern, energy efficient appliances. There are 2 hobs, 2 ovens, dishwasher, large fridge/ freezer and plenty of cupboard space provided for all occupants. 

  • Basement consisting of a utility room with 2 washers, a dryer and drying racks, plus a cinema space with projector that’s perfect for relaxing after long shifts or enjoying time together.

  • Two off‑road parking spaces.

  • Located within walking distance of main transport links making is easy to commute to and from the city centre.

  • Solar power & renewable heating system (ASHP) installed to generate sustainable energy throughout.

  • All appliances will aim to be above a B grade energy efficiency rating & the communal kitchen has a boiling hot water tap - so no kettle required!
