Learn CLO3D in 12 Weeks

Go from complete beginner to confident 3D designer—and transform how you create garments forever.

What if you could perfect fit before cutting fabric, design on exact body measurements, and open up new creative and professional opportunities?

That's exactly what you'll learn in this comprehensive 12-week CLO3D course.

Who This Is For

🧵 Hobby sewists tired of ill-fitting garments and wasted fabric
👗 Indie patternmakers ready to offer custom-fit design services
💼 Aspiring fashion professionals building portfolio-ready work
🎨 Current designers looking to level up their workflow and reduce waste

Why CLO3D?

I'm not exaggerating when I tell you that CLO3D has completely transformed my creative workflow.

After integrating this program into my freelance patternmaking and design work over the past year and a half—and completing intensive training at CLO3D's NYC headquarters—I can confidently say this is the future of fashion design.

Here's what CLO3D lets you do:

1. Perfect fit on ANY body
Use body scans or custom avatars to design garments on someone's exact shape and proportions. No more guessing. No more "I hope this fits." You SEE the fit in realistic 3D before you ever pick up scissors.

This is game-changing if you struggle to find patterns that fit your body, do custom work for clients with diverse body types, want to design adaptive or inclusive fashion, or are tired of making muslin after muslin.

2. Save time, money, and materials
I used to spend hundreds of dollars and days of time making physical samples that would ultimately end up in my scrap bin. Now I perfect everything digitally first. I only cut fabric when I know it's going to work.

My fabric waste has dropped dramatically. My turnaround time is faster. My stress level? Way lower.

3. Create portfolio work that gets you NOTICED
When I pitch to clients or apply for opportunities, I'm not showing flat sketches or photos of samples on a dress form. I'm presenting photorealistic 3D garments that look like they came from a major brand's lookbook.

It completely changed how people perceive my work—and my rates.

4. Open doors to remote freelance opportunities
Fashion brands—from indie labels to major corporations—are actively seeking CLO3D skills for both full-time positions and freelance projects. These are in-demand capabilities that open doors to flexible, remote work opportunities you can do from anywhere.

Even if you're not looking for traditional employment, adding CLO3D to your skillset makes you more valuable as a freelancer, consultant, or collaborator. One client project using these skills could easily pay for the entire course.

Why Learn From Me?

I'm Ruby—a patternmaker, designer, and educator based in Philadelphia. I run Slow Fashion Academy, my own studio where I offer sewing and patternmaking classes and do freelance custom design work for individuals and emerging small brands. I also teach at Jefferson University, where I focus on sustainable and inclusive fashion design.

Over the past year and a half, I've integrated CLO3D into my freelance design work and completed a formal training at CLO3D's NYC headquarters. I've seen firsthand how this program transforms creative workflows—not just in theory, but in my actual day-to-day work with clients.

My teaching style is hands-on, collaborative, and focused on real-world applications. I know what it's like to learn complex software, to feel overwhelmed by the learning curve, and to finally have that "aha!" moment when everything clicks. I'll be with you every step of the way.

FAQ

Do I need design or patternmaking experience to take this course?
No! This course starts from the ground up. If you've never used CLO3D before, you're in the right place. That said, having some basic sewing or design knowledge will help you understand the concepts faster—but it's not required.

What equipment do I need?
You'll need a computer that meets CLO3D's system requirements (I'll send specs when you enroll) and a CLO3D license. CLO offers a 2-week free trial, followed by a $50/month subscription fee.

Is this a live course or self-paced?
It's a hybrid! Video modules are pre-recorded so you can watch on your own schedule, but we have weekly live office hours for real-time support and community connection. Modules are released weekly to keep the group moving together.

What if I fall behind?
Life happens! You'll continue to have access to all course materials after the 12 weeks, so you can catch up at your own pace. The weekly office hours are live during the 12-week period, but recordings will be available.

Will this prepare me for the CLO Certification exam?
This course gives you a strong foundation in CLO3D and covers many of the skills tested in the certification exam. However, the certification requires additional independent study and practice. I'll provide guidance on next steps if certification is your goal.

Can I get a refund if the course isn't right for me?
I want you to be confident in your investment. Similar to a college course, I am currently working on a policy that will allow you to receive a partial refund within a certain amount of time after the course begins. If you start the course and realize that it is not meeting your needs, there will be an "exit ramp" built into the course structure. More details on this are coming soon.

Do you offer payment plans?
Yes! More information on this will be available when the course registration opens, but you will be able to opt to pay for the course in multiple installments over time.
