Art workshop

FOR ALL ABILITIES - from absolute beginners to professional artists and everyone inbetween.

"Brilliant course and higly recommended. Kate's teaching style, clear instructions and support allowed me to create pieces of work I really love. Really interesting technique that can lead onto so many other ideas. If you get the chance, take the course and have a great time creating abstract art that's unique to you" Penny, Colchester, UK.

"Kate's workshop (via Zoom) was a phenomenal treat. There is an energy, vibrancy, and deep well about Kate's art, personality and teaching style that is unique. She walked us through valuable exercises to get us into a creative flow, helped us connect to our process, and then let us loose. I had the worlds stupidest grin plastered all over my face!" Debra, Atlanta, GA, USA.

"It's brought the fun back and the play, and taken away the heaviness and seriousness I was feeling about my art" Sharon, Bedford, UK.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • What platform is the course on? Is it live or prerecorded? This is on ZOOM as I want this as interactive as possible, therefore I'm limiting places to just 12. The content will be completely LIVE and not prerecorded, just as if students were coming to my studio to do this
  • When does the course begin? Can I go at my own pace? This is a live course so it's important that students arrive on time so that they don't miss anything. I will be treating this like a face to face workshop and not recording it, so students will need to clear their diary to give this their full attention. I find that students work at different speeds and that's fine, anything that doesn't get finished can be completed afterwards.
  • What is the programme like, will there be breaks? It's 6 hours so we will need a few breaks, however much fun we're having! I will be sending out an outline of the programme following registration, this will include a 30 minute lunch break (or breakfast, depending on where you are) and comfort breaks as well. Some parts of the course will be step-by-step instructions, other parts will be more flexible where students respond in their own time to direction given.
  • What if my internet doesnt work? I plan to have a mini practice the day before to hopefully iron out any issues, students will need to check their computer set up in advance of the day, to ensure internet and Zoom are working, as I won't be able to help with any technical issues.
  • What supplies do i need? You can find the supplies list above and I will be sending this out to students following registration.
  • Do I need to prepare anything before the workshop day? No there is no preparation work necessary beforehand other than to collect all the resources needed, to prepare space for working physically and space in the diary to give this full focus.
  • I am not in the UK time zone. Will that matter? I am used to working with students from all over the world online and am keen to make this course as accessible as pssible. Obviously it's difficult to choose a time that suits absolutely everyone, especially whilst also taking into consideration the needs of my family. I hope that 12-6pm in the UK will be workable for many students overseas as well as those closer to home. Use this link to calculate the time difference where you live: https://www.worldtimebuddy.com/
  • How long will i have access to the course content?  This is a live, stand alone workshop, which will not be recorded. However I will be providing worksheets, and I will be teaching techniques and processes that students can go on to work with indefinately.
  • I'm not ready to take thie course now. When will you be running this course again? I am offering two dates for this online workshop in 2024. I then hope to offer 2 dates each year. Please join my Studio Newsletter List to be the first to hear of future classes, CLICK HERE.
  • I am a complete beginner. Can I take this course? Absolutely! I will be explaining and demonstrating every part without presuming any prior knowledge or experience. I am purposefully keeping the group small so that i can give individual support as needed. I've done this workshop with 5 years olds right through to people in their 80s, with many people who are convinced they have no creativity at all, alongside those who are professional artists, there's something for everyone!
  • I am more advanced than a beginner artist. Will I get anything out of the course? I've worked with a wide variety of abilities on this workshop and everyone always seems to get something from it! It's an opportunity to look at things from a fresh perspective and is a chance to just play with paint - who doesn't love that?!
  • What is your refund policy? Registration for this course is non refundable, but may be transferred to another individual if the student cannot attend. The minimum number of participants for this class is 5. If registration numbers are below this, Kate reserves the right to cancel the class with 24 hours notice and give a full refund to enrolled students.
