Connect with God's Heart for You

These devotionals come from my own journey—raising kids on the mission field, then losing our home to war—and the ways God met me in every season.

Whatever you’re facing today, I pray my words will help you experience that God's grace truly is enough.

Meet the author

First of all, I'm so glad you're here! My name is Sharon T. Markey, and for nineteen years, I called Ukraine home. I moved there as a missionary, never imagining just how deeply that country—and its people—would become woven into the fabric of my being.

Ukraine is where I built a life with my husband and where we raised our six sons. It's where I found a community that shaped my faith and outlook in ways I’m still learning to understand. Then came the war. In 2022, like so many others, we were forced to leave. What followed was a journey marked by heartbreak, resilience, and grace—a search not just for a new home, but for peace in the midst of loss.

Out of that experience, I wrote my memoir, Finding Home Again, which releases on November 30, 2025. But I wanted to offer something to you today—something to encourage your heart right now.

When you sign up above, you’ll receive a free download of my seven-day devotional Rooted in Grace. It’s something I wrote out of quiet places of reflection and recovery—a companion for anyone wanting to pause for a moment to sit at the feet of Jesus and listen for His voice.

This isn’t just a mailing list. It’s an invitation to stay connected—through updates, behind-the-scenes glimpses of the book, and honest reflections on faith, home, and healing.

I’d be honored to have you join me,

~ Sharon

It's Not All Bad

My memoir is not about war, per se, but rather the emotions that result when you’re torn away from home with little notice. It’s about the struggle to rebuild your life elsewhere, finding the will to keep going, to begin to live again. It’s about deciding to thrive, not just survive.

At a Loss . . .

Today they bombed the largest children’s hospital in Ukraine, Okhmadyt, a state-of-the-art facility known even beyond the borders of this country . . . The images are heart-rending.

A Fount of Joy

For over three years, I have drunk pain by the tumblerful. Everything had the potential to remind me of my deep heartache. Even welcome things—good news, time with friends, lovely music, beautiful scenery—could unexpectedly release a fount of tears.
