Become Your Own Best Coach

Base Training for independent, ambitious, life-long learners who want freedom, flexibility, and serious results.

If you've been unsatisfied with your fitness on the bike, base is the best time to fix it. One of your best options is to get help from a good coach. But if you're anything like me, you tend to be fairly self-reliant. You like making your own decisions, and you want to have full control over your schedule. That makes hiring a coach feel not quite right. Sure you could resort to using an app or buying a plan. But these aren't great long term solutions either. You didn't take up riding so that you could be a slave to an AI algorithm or online training platform.

"Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime."

This is not just a base plan. It's not a new AI technology or a group training program to get you through the winter months. It's way more transformative. You're going to learn how to train using a methodical system while building your base. You'll have full autonomy in your plan and have all the tools you need to train at a high level, without the need for a coach (like me), plans, or apps. This is all about giving you a new skillset that you'll have for the rest of your cycling years. Ultimately, this is how you get seriously engaged with the process of training. And that leads to serious, long lasting results.

FAQ's

? Are you using TrainingPeaks? What about Intervals.icu?

answer - I'm using TrainingPeaks (TP) for this. While I'm also on intervals.icu, I think TP is best. It's what all the coaches use and it's not going anywhere!

? Are there any other costs ?

answer - You'll need a premium TrainingPeaks account. It's just a few bucks and worth every penny. You'll also need a sweet bike. 😁

? What if I have questions while training base after the course is over ?

answer - I'll answer your questions while you're training base. I don't leave people hanging.

? Is this for women too ?

answer - You better believe it!! This framework and method is particularly beneficial to women. Ping me if you would like to chat about why. I'm considering doing a specific women's version at some point down the road if there's interest.

? Do I need prior experience or knowledge ?

answer - You don't need years of experience or in-depth knowledge of training principles. I designed this system for self-coached cyclists who need efficiency without needing to understand the science. The goal is to be as streamlined and simple as possible.

? Do I need a power meter ?

answer - Yes. This course is based on power meter data. You should have a heart rate monitor as well. I'm a big fan of Quarq power meters.

? Can I follow the workouts on Zwift? What about following them on my head unit ?

answer - Yes, absolutely! You can follow all of your custom workout on Zwift by syncing TrainingPeaks to your account. You can also push them to your head unit. TrainingPeaks supports all the brands.

? Is this a new training method ?

answer - The actual training is based on proven training principles. We're not reinventing the wheel. What's unique is how we apply these training principles to your training in a methodical way. But it's a system focused on you, starting with getting you mentally engaged with the process.

? Is it going to work ?

answer - Aside from me coaching you, you're giving yourself the best chance possible. Your training will be individualized, which is the best way to see results over the long term . It's not rocket science, though the industry doesn't want to tell you that.

? Why are you putting on this course on ?

answer - I can't explain what drives me to help cyclists with their riding. I just have to do it. I'm also pretty passionate about innovation and doing things better. While the rest of the industry is focused on 'innovative' software solutions using algorithms, I believe these miss the mark. They answer the "what should I do" questions, but don't solve the core issues most cyclists face. True transformation starts in your head, and this system is designed to help you think about your training completely differently.

After my worst winter in 10 years due to the build and move to our new house and a back injury that kept me from my bike, something needed to change. I was in such a bad shape. So bad, I didn’t even enjoyed my rides when I finally found the time for one after my injury.

Then this email from Eric arrived in my mailbox with the invitation to follow a course on base training mastery. Base training, just what I needed!

I allready new that Eric is a master in explaining complex material in an easy to understand manner from his YouTube videos, so I signed up for this course.

Everything is in there. An ATP, the workouts in TrainingPeaks and offcourse the explanation on how to use all of this material.

After following this course you’ll be able to understand how to plan your own workouts, but the most important is that you know why it needs to be planned out like this.

When applying this newly gained information to my training plan, this rapidly changed my bad shape to a level where the fun came back to my rides.

Feeling stronger week after week and seeing my CTL rise gave me the motivation to pursevere. I strongely believe this this system works. A system which pushes me when needed, but also with enough built in rest the body needs for recuperation and to grow stronger.

I’m now 8 weeks in the program. My FTP rose allready 23Watts and I’m sure it’s even higher by now.

I feel fresh and strong on my rides which makes me curius what’s more to come.

Can’t wait for the racing season to begin

5 stars.  This course is a great place to start for anyone that is new to structured training, does not have a coach and is looking to be self-sufficient.
