Peter Hayes is the Professor of Metallurgical Engineering at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia.
Peter has been actively involved in university undergraduate teaching, course and curriculum development in the field of metallurgical engineering for many decades. He has taught a wide range of courses directly relevant to the production, refining and recycling of metals, including mineral processing, chemical thermodynamics, extractive metallurgy and materials science. He has also developed strong research collaborations with the metallurgical industry, applying fundamental knowledge and a scientific approach to industrial processes and process development. The overall aim of this research, and the ideas presented in this book, is to enable more efficient processing and increased recycling of these valuable and finite metal resources.
