WHAT SHE'S ABOUT

Ahoy, There!

Captain She--and all my books, really--are all about answering questions. By no means do I have all the answers, but I aim to point to the One Who does. Admist all the adventure, God is always the white noise of these stories. My prayer is that you'll be so drenched with hope that when you close the pages, you'll say, "What an Adventure!" Because knowing God is an adventure.

The Captain's Business

Send the Line - Speaking

Gotta activity coming up? Or a conference looming near? Looking for someone to speak? Art is communication. Writing is just another way of talking, and talking is how we express life-changing ideas. I love to dive into the concepts and power of stories. It could be films, visual designs, or novels themselves. Stories are everywhere! They are what connect us.

Characters are my jam. I create and understand them for a living. (; Having acted in 4 plays, wrote a dozen skits, played an estimate of 14 skits, 2 Biblical account dramas, background characters in 2 movies, co-made a summary/parody of Star Wars ep.1, and recently acted in a commercial, I have learned that acting is about express a character so that the audience feels what you feel. In both my acting and writing, I break characters down through several phases: 1) the surface, 2) the lie and fear, 3) the why, and 4) the goal.

God's Word covers every aspect of our lives. Every night as a little girl, I'd kneel at my bed or stare at the ceiling to pray "God, forgive me of my sin and save me." Though God's free gift of eternal life is a once and done deal because of what Jesus Christ did for all humanity, I was scared of the Lake of Fire. So, one night in family devotions, my mom took me aside and walked me through how Jesus Christ [100% God and 100% man] came to pay our wages of sin and rose from the dead three days later (Romans 6:23 and John 10:9). That night I asked Christ to forgive my sins and save me so I could go to heaven and live with Him forever. My family, past sins, good works, going to church, it doesn't matter. God is the One Who saves, and I do what I do because of what God has done/is doing for me and because of Who He is.

Ever wonder why certain characters must die? Ever think "if only. . ."? Ever consider the difference of plot and story? Whether it's writing tips, plot break downs, character development, understanding stories, brainstorming, and so on, writing/stories matter and are a passion I love to help others in and understand in new ways.

Schools, libraries, churches, conferences, virtual meetings, panels/Q&A, podcasts, and more--I love helping people. We are all characters in a grand story. My motto--Escaping into Adventure--is rooted in that I want my stories to encourage someone in their own life story.
