Monthly Community Service Days

We meet on the third Saturday of each month from 8-10 am.

Please bring gloves, clippers and wear sturdy shoes and long pants. Sunscreen, bug spray, a hat and water are helpful too.

Please park behind the Hilton Garden Inn at 1001 George Bush Frwy. in Richardson.

We cancel if it's raining or below 45 degrees.

If you have questions, please reach out to Julia at [email protected].

Below are some of the ways we spend our time during the service days.

Winter Clean Up

Each January, we clear trash along the shoreline, dam, and bridge while vegetation is dormant. It’s glorious to reveal the natural beauty of the space.

Planting Native Plants

By adding rescued and locally sourced natives, we boost biodiversity and create habitat for the wildlife that depends on this area.

Removing Invasive Species

Invasive plants crowd out natives. By removing seed heads and pulling whole plants when needed, we reclaim space for healthier ecosystems.

Shoring up the steep slopes

Brush from the site is used to build natural berms that hold soil in place. This simple method controls erosion and protects both the trail and creek.

Creating & Maintaining Trails

Access to the creek is important for many visitors. We’ve created and maintain a trail that makes it easy to reach the water while also preventing erosion on the slope.

Bioblitz

We explore the property and record plants, birds, bugs, reptiles, and more on iNaturalist. It's Citizen Science at its best!
