If your athletes dominate practice…but CRUMBLE in gamesnow there’s a system to fix it BEFORE your season collapses

See how teams use the Focus Cycle to go 19-0, JUMP win rates from 33% to 71%, and WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS in as little of 15 mins per weekeven when they joined mid season and started with zero mental training

How many times as a coach have you dragged yourself off the field thinking…

We’re better than that.

All week practice is crisp - passes zip, pure strikes and everything clicks. Your players look locked in. You know if they play this way on game day, you’re fine. Then the pressure of game day hits.

And suddenly… they're a different team. Passes are off target. They miss shots they’ve hit countless times. They snap at themselves. Hands on hips…shaking their heads. And it's contagious.

One error turns into three. So they freeze. They stop taking risks. Passes are sideways and no forward runs. The opposition smells blood…and now you’re in trouble. At halftime you fire them up:

You’ve got this. Just play your game. You’re better than these guys.”

They nod and jog out. But they stay tense. AND IT DRIVES YOU CRAZY! because they’re playing nothing like practice.

It’s not talent. It’s not effort. It’s not your game plan. And it’s not you. It’s when the moment gets big… they shrink. Here’s the truth:

You grind. You’re out there after dark, pushing practice harder than games. Before matches, you triple-check they know the game plan. You make em rest. You keep em focused. You cut out dumb distractions. Even in the off-season, you’re doing EVERYTHING to improve them. You’ve even given them books, podcasts and videos on mindset. You don’t have a spare minute. However…

If your team breaks down in big moments, “one bad night” doesn’t stay one night. It turns into a bad season. You’re sliding down the table. Other teams will spot it, and say “Just hang around. They’ll crack.

Parents whisper and recruits notice. People call your team soft…and it sticks. You head home in silence thinking all that talent is fading. Truth is, you want to be the coach who finishes. Here’s the good news.

Your players break down for a different reason.

When the moment feels big, the amygdala (in their brain) blasts like a smoke alarm. It thinks there’s danger. When that happens, the Vagus nerve sends that alarm through the body.

Heart rate spikes…breathing quickens…mouth dries…stomach flips…muscles tighten…vision narrows. Now the field shrinks…fewer options and less space.

The brain scrambles neural highways that hold their muscle memory. So skills they’ve done ten thousand times now feel unfamiliar. Touches are heavy and timing is off. That’s why they fold. But here’s what most coaches don’t know:

You can shut that alarm off. The Vagus nerve runs through the lungs. Which means you shut it down with real diaphragmatic breathing. Which goes beyond “taking a deep breath.

The U.S Military use a specific diaphragmatic breathing pattern to stay ice cool in life-or-death moments. And now there’s a method designed for sports.

When your athletes use it, their alarm shuts off. Heart rate drops…vision widens…focus snaps back. Now their eyes are up, scanning, reading the game again. They react fast and play on instinct.

Then your players get personal “Go-To” phrases they use when things get tough. These ain’t cheesy affirmations. They’re short, custom phrases that stop the “I suck” spiral… and shift them back to focus and confidence.

A calm body and mind is how you get clutch performance. And you get all this inside the MTP Academy. A simple system that fits into 15 minutes a week to keep your guys calm under pressure. Use this with zero mental training background. Here’s what coaches like you are seeing…

Westfield’s football team had a 33% win rate for over a decade. After using these tools, they jumped to a 71% win rate. 9 sectional titles…5 regional titles…4 state runner-ups and a state championship.

At South Ripley, a small public school basketball team went 19–0. 7 times they trailed at halftime. They reset fast and fought back every time. They finished ranked #1 and became sectional champs. One player on the team raised his free throw rate from 55% to 81% using one tool.

In other sports, Cailyn wiped out putting yips and started draining pressure putts.

Trudy’s tennis team stopped double-faulting under stress and closed out sets to finish 14–4.

Coaches across 86 teams and 14 states are using this to turn their team around. Across different sports, ages and levels.  Here’s what’s gonna happen to your athletes once you’re inside the MTP Academy:

Here’s what’s inside the MTP Academy:

THE FOCUS CYCLE

YOUR TEAM DOESN’T TIGHTEN UP WHEN IT MATTERS MOST

When the season’s on the line, your players stay calm and in control. They know how to shake off tension and attack the play. Just clean execution, real confidence to the final whistle.

SKILLS SHOW UP UNDER PRESSURE

You’ve seen great practice all week. Then it all falls apart late in the game. Here, the Focus Cycle locks your players into their muscle memory. So the work they put in all season shines in every shot, pass or play.

HEART RATE STAYS UNDER CONTROL

When the heart rate spikes, everything blurs. Decisions slip. The Focus Cycle gives your players a way to slow their breathing and steady their hands in the moment. So they read the game clearly, and make the right shot, pass or move. Even when tempers rise and the game gets heated.

FOCUS ON WHAT WINS GAMES

Your players stop worrying about the last play… or what might happen next. They fix on what matters right now.

MENTAL CLARITY DRIVES LATE GAME PLAYS

Missed shots. Bad calls. Crowd noise. It’s all part of the game. But your team shakes it off and snaps back into position. So one mistake ends there.

PROPER GOAL SETTING

BUILD MOMENTUM & LASER FOCUS

Big goals become simple—actually doable—because your players lock in on what’s right in front of them: the next play, the next rep, the next job. Crowd noise, social media and outside pressure fade into the background. Small wins start stacking, one after the other, and that’s how real confidence grows. They stand taller and demand the ball.

READY FOR THE NEXT LEVEL

When it’s time to move up, they’re ready without hesitation. They hold their nerve when stakes rise, accept feedback without ego, and adapt when things go sideways. That’s what separates your program. You’re developing athletes who are built for the next level—skilled, composed, and dependable when it counts.

✔ CLEAR DIRECTION

Every practice has a clear purpose, because every drill ties back to how you want your team to perform. Everything’s intentional. Your players see what you’re building, and over time, that clarity comes through.

BUILD THE STANDARD

Every drill pushes progress. Every rep reinforces the standard—how your team thinks, responds, and competes under pressure. Standards stay high, progress keeps rolling, and when the season’s on the line, you trust how they perform.

DELIBERATE PRACTICE

KNOW EXACTLY WHAT TO WORK ON

Every session has a clear target. It ties straight to how you want your team to play when the game’s on the line. So practice stays locked in on what they need to execute when a defender is in their face. Focus stays sharp from the first rep to the last. The habits you drill in practice are the same ones your players lean on when there’s 10 seconds left on the clock.

FIX WEAK SPOTS BEFORE THEY COST YOU

You attack your weak spots. On purpose. You strengthen skills that usually fall apart when legs get heavy and the crowd gets loud. You fix them in practice… so they stand firm in the fourth quarter.

BREAK PLATEAUS BEFORE THEY BREAK YOU

When the wins stop stacking up and practice goes flat you don’t stall. You adjust. You get things moving again. Momentum builds. The pace stays high and people are talking. No one drags through reps. So your team stays strong through those long weeks in the middle of the season when games blur together.

IMPROVE FASTER

You stop judging practice by how tired you feel… and start judging it by how much you improve. Every minute builds a skill that kicks in when the game tightens up. Even short sessions sharpen timing and cut mistakes. So when pressure hits late in the season, you trust the work. You know it was enough.

CALM, REAL CONFIDENCE BEFORE GAMES

Confidence grows from the reps. Your players carry it. They walk in loose, talking and locked in on the gameplan. When the score’s close, they control the pace and make the right play.

✔ FEEDBACK TURNS INTO FIXES

When you correct something, it sticks. Your players know exactly what to fix—and how to work on it next time. No blank stares. No fake nods. Just clear feedback that drives real improvement… and standards that stick.

EFFECTIVE VISUALIZATION

MENTALLY READY BEFORE THE GAME STARTS

Your team steps out loose, heads up, talking and ready. Because they’ve already run the first play in their head before the whistle ever blows. And they come out strong, zipping passes and setting the pace.

LOWER NERVES WHEN THE MOMENT GETS BIG

When the crowd gets loud and the score gets tight, your players stay steady. Breathing stays under control. Hands stay relaxed. They keep the moment in check. So they make clean plays and smart decisions.

MAKE FASTER, CLEANER DECISIONS UNDER PRESSURE

When the play unfolds, they fire into action. They’ve already seen it in their head. While other teams are still thinking, your players attack. Clear. Quick. In control. Making sharp decisions that hold up even when the game speeds up.

RESET FAST AFTER MISTAKES

When you lose the ball, or a shot rims out, they shake it off and snap into the next play. Because they’ve got solid back up plans. Small mistakes stay small. And your team keeps control of the game.

WHAT YOU TRAIN SHOWS UP ON GAME DAY

Games feel just like practice. The calm, the focus, the execution—it all carries over. Your team stays sharp. They know exactly what to do. And the habits you train are the ones that deliver when it counts.

PRE PRACTICE ROUTINES

START PRACTICE SWITCHED ON

Your athletes hit the floor calm, alert, and ready to compete from the first whistle. Energy is high. Reps are focused. You set the tone right away—and that carries over when the game gets tight later in the season.

KNOW EXACTLY WHAT TODAY IS ABOUT

Every practice has one clear focus. One priority. One standard. Every rep moves in the same direction. That’s how habits stick. That’s how your team delivers.

CLEAR MENTAL CLUTTER BEFORE IT HIJACKS THE SESSION

Yesterday stays yesterday. Next week can wait. Your players dial in on this rep, right now. Practice stays clean and on track. And that same discipline shows up in games when something goes wrong.

GET MORE OUT OF EVERY SESSION

Practice feels tight. Focused. Well-paced. Every minute drives your team to play better. Even in busy weeks, you see real progress—something you can point to.

CATCH AND CORRECT DISTRACTION FAST

Focus snaps back the second it slips. Your team knows it. Reps stay locked in. And that same habit shows up in the fourth quarter… after a bad call… or during a run by the other team.

SEPARATE GAME STRESS FROM PRACTICE

After a bad loss, practice becomes a reset. A clean slate. Emotions get faced, then turned into solutions. Momentum keeps rolling. And your culture holds strong when the pressure hits.

FREEING MUSCULAR TENSION

MOVE FLUIDLY WITH BALANCE, RHYTHM & CONTROL

Your players strike the ball clean in practice, and under the lights in a game. Because when the pressure hits, shoulders hang loose. Hands stay relaxed. Movements glide without jerks or tight stops. Your players sync up. Feet, hips and hands all fire. Power drives from the whole body working together.

REACT FASTER — WITHOUT FORCING IT

Your team beats everyone to the ball and takes the play. Because when tension’s gone, the body fires. They spot it and strike. While the opposition pauses for a split second, your athlete cuts in and wins the ball. That’s the difference between closing a game… and chasing it.

LAST LONGER LATE

Your team uses energy well. So their legs feel fresh, and movements snap clean. Late in the game — when other teams drag their legs, your team is quick and light on their feet.

SUCCESS BOARDS

SEASON IS DECIDED

This is proof - not hype. When pressure spikes late in games, your athletes step up. Ready. Because they remember proof of what they’ve already done under stress. When the score’s tight, your team trusts the play and commits to it.

CONTAIN MISTAKES

Seasons don’t fall apart because of one error — they fall apart when one snowballs into three. The success board works as an emotional circuit breaker. Keeping a mistake contained so there’s no blow up late in the game.

LOSSES DON’T LINGER — THEY RESET FAST

What drags a team down is carrying a loss into the next performance. The success board cuts the reset time, helping your players drop it and return to play.

CRUSH DOUBT FOR SUBLIME EXECUTION

Under pressure, every athlete hears that voice in their head… “Don't mess this up”. The success board shuts that voice down before it takes over. Shows them why they belong. So when the spotlight hits, execution stays clean and decisive.

THE LOCKER ROOM FEELS STEADY — NOT SHAKY

Before big games, the locker room’s calm. No pacing. No nervous chatter. Instead, Breathing is slow and they stand tall. So they step out composed and ready for the first whistle.

OUTSIDE NOISE DOESN’T FRACTURE THE TEAM

Social media, rankings, playing time, and outside pressure pull at teams. But the success board brings their eyes back to what they’ve already earned. Comparison fades, commitment tightens, and your team pulls in the same direction.

OPTIMISTIC PERFECTION

EXPECT SUCCESS — SO THEY PLAY AGGRESSIVE

When athletes expect disaster, they pull back and play safe. When they expect execution, they attack. Optimistic perfection flips that switch. So instead of bracing for failure, they step into the moment.

LOSSES TURN INTO IMPROVEMENT — NOT BLAME

After a tough loss, some teams point fingers. Strong teams raise their hand and own it. They look at the missed pass and fix it. Optimistic perfection creates real accountability. Pushing players to take responsibility in a way that holds the locker room together.

BODY LANGUAGE PROTECTS BELIEF

You see it before the game even starts. Heads up. Shoulders back. No slouching. Confident body language steadies everyone. Teammates feel it. Opponents see it. Your players look calm. Eyes forward, focused on the next play.

Why I’ll Never Let Another Athlete Freeze Under Pressure

In 1999, I was a sophomore on the baseball team. And I couldn’t get the ball back to the pitcher. Not some crazy, across-the-field missile. Just a simple toss. The same easy throw I’d been making since I was a little kid.

But the second the game tightened… my arm just locked up. It felt like someone unplugged my arm from my body. That’s when it hit me:

You can train for hours, and still freeze when the game is on the line. And everyone’s watching.

At first, I figured maybe I just didn’t “have it.” You hear it all the time, right?

You’re either born confident… or you’re not.

People kept saying, “Just relax.” Or “Take a deep breath.

They’d blare out a chest pumping speech. That advice did NOTHING. So I decided no athlete should stand on the field like that again. Wondering why their body wouldn’t listen. I needed a useful tool for athletes when it mattered most.

In 2008, Westfield High School hired me to coach their quarterbacks. Five years later, we played for state championship. We had guys who’d outrun defenders, hit hard and run every play clean. At least, that’s what we thought.

Then the lights got bright, and the pressure got real. Suddenly, I watched receivers try to catch balls with shaking hands. I saw senior defensive linemen slumped on the sideline… in tears. Kids who had dominated all season suddenly froze. Slow to move, second guessing every step.

That loss stung. Not because we weren’t good enough. But because we couldn’t handle that level of pressure. That’s when the truth became clear:

When you leave the mental side untrained, it shows up at the worst possible time.

That off-season, my head coach told me I was in charge of the mental side. So I had to find out what works under pressure. At the same time, I was finishing my Master’s degree. Studying leadership, self-awareness, and how young athletes think. So I asked one question that changed everything for athletes:

How do you train confidence, the same way you train strength?

Because here’s the truth:

Telling a teenager, “Be confident” doesn’t work. Most of them struggle to explain what they’re feeling. And they struggle even more to control it. So we studied what triggered the collapses.

Was it before the free throw?

After a turnover?

When the crowd got loud?

Then we asked where the athletes focus went in that moment. That’s when we saw a clear pattern.

When focus drifted, performance dropped. And what we found lines up with how the brain works.

When a moment feels big, the brain senses a threat. The amygdala fires like a smoke alarm. Then the vagus nerve sends that alarm through the body. That’s why the heart starts racing. Breathing gets fast and shallow. Your mouth goes dry. Your stomach flips. Muscles tighten. Adrenaline floods your system. And once the heart rate gets too high…

Vision narrows. The brain fails to keep up with how play unfolds in front of you. Muscle memory, built from thousands of reps of throws and swings, scrambles.  And suddenly, everything feels forced and unnatural.

So I asked myself:

Who handles extreme pressure better than anyone?

So I studied U.S Military. Because for them, staying calm is life or death. That’s when I realized something big:

The vagus nerve runs through your major organs and connects to your brain. Which means If you can calm the vagus nerve… you calm your body from head to toe. Control your breathing, and you control your heart rate, your adrenaline, and that sick feeling in your stomach.

When the body settles, the fear response shuts off. Focus snaps back. Vision opens up. And your skills go back to autopilot. But this method used on the field goes far beyond “just taking a deep breath.”

What works here is real diaphragmatic breathing. Built in. Ready. There when you need to steady yourself in moments of pressure. Then you add the right self-talk to relax the muscles and lock in focus. Then you know your athletes will stay calm, because you've wired them to. Once we put this system in place, everything changed.

From 2001 to 2012, Westfield’s win rate was 33%.

From 2013 to 2024, our mental system pushed that number to 71%.

Resulting in 9 sectional titles. 5 regional titles. 4 state runner-up finishes. 1 state championship.

After a while, people asked what we did differently. Coaches called. Parents reached out. Other programs wanted in.

In 2018, I worked with teams outside of Westfield. Different sports. Different levels.

At South Ripley, a small public school basketball team jumped from middle-of-the-pack to 19–0. And in seven of those games, they trailed at halftime.

The difference was South Ripley reset instantly. They finished ranked number one. Won the sectional title. And one player took his free throw percentage from 55% to 81%. He used just one visualization tool.

In other sports, a golfer used our forced muscular relaxation tool to kill the yips. Now she sinks pressure putts.

A tennis team stopped choking on serve and closed out matches to finish 14–4. Over time, we’ve coached 86 high school and college teams across 14 states.

In 2019, I launched the Coaching Minds Podcast to show what we’ve learnt.

In 2021, I turned the system into a book called The Focus Cycle.

In 2024, we turned it into a step by step system with MTP Academy.

And in 2025, we launched the MTP Certification. So coaches use the training with their own athletes. So any coach, in any sport, builds a team who steps up when the game is on the line.

We’ve Got Your Back With This World Class Guarantee

I want you to feel great about jumping into MTP Academy. So here’s a guarantee that should put a big smile on your face…

Your players MUST improve. If you don’t see better results from your players or your team… I’ll give you every penny back.

Even if it’s been a full year. No hoops. No hassle. I’ll send your money straight back to your account. And here’s the best part:

You keep everything. No questions. No explanations. Just shoot me an email and tell me it’s not working for you. Take your time, too. You’ve got a full year to decide.

I want you to use everything I’ve given you… at no cost, no pressure. Now, you might be thinking…“That’s a pretty big risk to take.”

Honestly? It’s not. Because these strategies work. They’ve already helped players and teams step up and perform under immense pressure. And they’ll do the same for you.

Here’s What These Coaches Said…

"When I first came into Westfield, the kids worked hard—but if I’m honest, the belief just wasn’t there, and after years of losing, they’d got used to it. In their heads, .500 was their limit.

So I did what most coaches do. I pushed harder. We trained harder than everyone else, worked our way through the season, and eventually made it all the way to a state championship. But the second that game started…we fell apart.

I’m talking receivers trying to catch the ball with shaking hands, senior players sat on the sidelines in tears, kids who’d been brilliant all season suddenly looking completely stuck.

That one hurt, because it wasn’t ability—we just weren’t ready for that kind of pressure, and looking back, I don’t think I handled it right either.

The truth is, I didn’t even know where to start with the mental side. Trying to build mental toughness across a whole programme just felt overwhelming. But I knew something had to change.

Before we joined Ben and the MTP Academy, our win rate was 33%. Afterwards, our win rate went to 71%. And we brought home nine sectional titles, five regional titles, four state runner-ups, and a state championship."

Jake Gilbert

"My basketball team at South Ripley High School folded as soon as there was a mistake or a bad call. My guys would argue, blame each other and drop their heads right on the court. Then the game would slip away.

I tried to help the guys with mindset books, podcasts and videos, but it didn't stick or help results at all. So I had my doubts about the MTP Academy. So did the parents as they said “Why are you spending time on mindset stuff when you could practice free throws?”

But once we joined the MTP Academy, our guys got ‘go-to statements’ for pressure moments, and for the first time, instead of panicking, you could see them steady themselves, take a breath, and stay composed when everything around them was telling them to fall apart.

And once that changed…everything changed. The same players who used to crumble were now backing each other, staying calm under pressure, and actually closing out games instead of giving them away.

Our free throw percentage jumped from 55% to 81%. We were only spending 15 minutes a week on it. We went 19-0 in the season, even when we were down 7 times at halftime.

Now there’s no doubt anymore. The players believe in it. The parents believe in it. And I believe in it. We’ve gone from a team that would collapse the moment things got tough…to one that stays composed, sticks together, and expects to win when it matters most."

Tom Beach

"My tennis players would be 5–4 up, serving for the set, and I already knew what was about to happen…the guys would tighten up, push easy serves long, double fault, and just hand the game away. And once that happened, the set was gone too, every single time.

It was honestly painful to watch, because I knew how good they were. But in those moments it was like they turned into completely different players, and no matter what I tried—talking to them after matches, pulling them aside during games, running pressure situations in practice—nothing made a difference.

You could see it all over them… the frustration, the panic, the body language… and it just fed the other team. At one point I started thinking, maybe this is just who we are…maybe some players just can’t handle it. Then it clicked—this wasn’t about skill…it was mental.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t know how I was going to fit MTP Academy into everything. And I wasn’t convinced it would work for every player. But then I saw one of my players, in that exact same pressure moment, stop, use the ‘tense and release’ technique… and actually close out the set. And I remember thinking, okay, this is different. From there, it was like a weight lifted.

The same players who used to fall apart were now holding their nerve, staying composed, and actually finishing matches instead of giving them away. We ended the season 14–4. And the only thing we changed was joining the MTP Academy.

Now when those big moments come, I don’t feel that dread anymore… I actually believe we’re going to handle it. And more importantly… so do they."

Your Next Big Moment Is Coming…

Score’s tight. Clock’s ticking down. Crowd’s going crazy. And the whole game rides on one play. So let me ask you:

Are you really gonna leave that moment to chance?

Or are you gonna build players who relish that moment?

Look—you don’t need to become a sports psychologist. And you don’t need to cram more hours into an already packed week. You just need a proven system.

A system that keeps your guys steady when the pressure hits…

Helps them reset fast and move on to the next play…

Keeps them calm when momentum swings and the other team starts chirping…

Makes what you practice show up on game day… instead of disappearing when it matters most…

Builds leaders who protect your standard—and raise it. And helps your athletes reach the level you know they’ve got in them.

If that sounds like the edge your team’s been missing, take the smart step and choose a suitable plan to join the MTP Academy.
