MEET KATE

It's her day off, but despite it, she's up before anyone else and her first thought is: what does everyone else need today?

She throws on something practical. Presentable, but nothing she actually loves. A quick coffee, half a slice of toast eaten standing up. Then the usual chaos begins.

“Mum, where are my soccer shoes?”

Her friend's eyes glaze over slightly. “You've been talking about this forever. When are you actually going to do it?”

Deep down, she knows her friend is right. So Kate changes the subject. And instead of feeling energized after the meeting, she feels deflated.

Back home, she finally sits down at her laptop. This is it. Time to work on her business. She opens a blank document.

Her heart rate picks up. Her breathing gets shallow.

She knows what she needs to do: write that first post, reach out to potential clients, announce her idea to the world. But somehow, she ends up tweaking her logo colours instead. Researching another course. Scrolling through Instagram, watching other women do exactly what she wants to be doing.

By evening, the laptop is still open. The screen is still blank.

Why I built this

A few years ago, everything in my life fell apart.

My relationship ended. The home I'd designed - the one where I'd imagined grandchildren running through the halls - was gone. And the family life I'd wanted since I was a little girl disappeared overnight.

I felt completely lost, like my roots had been pulled out. I couldn't see what a different future could look like. And even though I had plenty of things going for me, I wasn't excited about life anymore.

I tried everything to feel better - traditional therapy, breathwork, hypnosis, acupuncture. It just wasn't enough.

Until I stumbled upon positive psychology - and signed up for a course.

In my first online session with 20 other women, I sat through each of them introducing themselves - incredibly confident, naturally positive, running amazing businesses. And once it was my turn - I couldn't get a word out. I cried. Because compared to all of them, I just felt like I didn't belong there. But I knew it couldn't go on like that and that I had to change something.

In Positive Psychology, instead of talking about what doesn't work and what your problems are, you focus on what's ahead of you. You visualise what you do want out of life and how you want to feel.

It shifted something for me. It made me hope and dream again.

Positive Psychology pulled me out of that rut. Not by fixing my past, but by showing me how to build a future I actually wanted.
