In my experience, niggles and aches often lead to further problems. They very rarely just 'go away'. For example, if you have a knee niggle that you feel every now and again. This may indicate to you the precursor of a potential knee injury or even arthritis. If you do nothing about it, it could lead to a fully painful knee that starts to really impact in your daily life. Why wait till this stage? Why not nip it in the bud now and make that joint stronger leading to a better quality of life? If the last few years have taught us anything, it is to look after our bodies proactively rather than reactively.
I have been surrounded by exercise since I was in secondary school. It led me to do a degree in Sport & Exercise Science in 2004. During that time I got the opportunity to join Glenfield hospital for a placement year working with people with lung and heart issues within a multidisciplinary team. After gradation I worked in the NHS for over 10 years as a rehabilitation assistant. I worked with many teams during this time, the main one being A&E for three years. I have come across all types of injuries, health conditions, long term or short and seen the effects when those niggles and aches are left unnoticed. This is why I am so passionate about what I do and teach exercise to help prevent people landing in A&E.
