Starting something new can be tough when you are over 50
but it doesn't have to be...

What if you could learn yoga and start from the very beginning? You don't even need to be able to touch your toes.

Are you curious about yoga but don’t know where to start?

Are you intimidated by walking into a yoga class when you don’t know what you are doing?

Do you worry about injuring yourself? Healing takes longer as you age.

Do you worry about starting anything new at this point in your life? What’s the big deal about yoga?

Yoga Basics Over 50 is for you if:

  • You want to have a strong body and a calm mind to feel better in your skin

  • You want to improve your balance, and mobility in a safe and supported way to decrease the risk of falls and move more confidently throughout your day

  • You've heard yoga and meditation help with anxiety and insomnia, but you don’t know how to start

  • You already practice yoga, but want to go back the beginning to learn proper alignment and anatomy, and reduce the risk of injury

  • You are interested in learning breathing and meditation to feel more calm and centered

  • You’re working with injuries or physical limitations and want to learn to practice the poses correctly in the body that you have

  • You want to feel more confident before stepping into a group class

Yoga Basics Over 50 is a self-study course that will guide you through 25 yoga poses in an easy to follow, self-study format. You will learn yoga alignment principles and basic anatomy so that you understand each pose in your body.

Yoga is not just for some bodies, yoga is for all bodies.

You may find yourself spending hours sitting at your desk or behind a computer, your body hunched over and uncomfortable. Your mind races from one task to the next, worrying about deadlines, the kids, the world, doing all the things, with no time for yourself. You have heard that yoga is a great way to feel stronger and more relaxed, but you don’t know where to start, or how to possibly fit anything else into your day.

Every journey begins with a single step.

What if you could practice yoga in sessions that fit easily into your day? What if these practices were specifically made for beginners, offering short lessons that help you understand the poses in YOUR body, all while calming the chaos in your mind.

Yoga is a mental and physical practice that creates strength, balance, and mobility in the body, while cultivating a calm, present mind.

The uncertainty in the world today causes us so much stress and anxiety.

Our “sitting” lifestyle creates pain, stiffness, and weakness as we age.

If you feel sluggish, stressed, and uncomfortable in your body, Yoga Basics Over 50 could be the solution you've been seeking! Learn to move, breathe, and balance, while cultivating kindness toward yourself.

Yoga is non-competitive; you move at your own pace, in your own body, doing only what feels good, and letting go of the rest.

Yoga Basics Over 50 is your opportunity to build strength, balance, mobility, and mindfulness in a safe, supportive community. All poses can be modified to fit your strengths and limitations. By the end of the course, you will feel ready to step into a group yoga class with confidence and bodily autonomy.

In this course you will learn:

  • 25 basic yoga poses

  • Basic alignment principles

  • Basic anatomy related to the yoga poses

  • Names of these poses in both English and Sanskrit (yoga's original language)

  • What muscles you are targeting, which are stretching and strengthening

  • How to move safely and efficiently from one pose to the next

  • How to listen to your body and follow its guidance

  • What meditation is all about and how to do it

  • How to control your breath to energize or calm your mind

Take the classes at your own pace. Give yourself plenty of time to absorb the instructions and integrate them into your body. You have lifetime access to this course and can come back to it over and over again.

Plus 3 bonus videos:

  • How to use props to support your yoga practice. Props like yoga blocks, straps, and blankets allow everybody with every body to practice yoga in a way that feels good.

  • How to listen to your body and what different sensations are actually telling you. You decide what feels right and what doesn't. Learning what different sensations are telling you matters.

  • A 20 minute stretch class for when your body feels stiff and just needs to move. This class is for all levels, a real "feel good" kind of class.

In addition to the bonus videos, you can attend any or all of my online Beginner Yoga classes, both live and on demand, for 3 months, all included!

Here's what people are saying about Yoga Basics Over 50:

"I wanted to take time to learn more about body position in various yoga poses as well as improve my poses. I am a beginner and wanted to know more as I start out on my yoga journey. I am still working through the course but it exceeded my expectations in so many ways. I found the written material so helpful as well as the videos. I have truly learned so much - more than I thought I would. The biggest thing I will take with me is more confidence in my understanding of various yoga poses and how to move into and out of poses. I also have struggled with using my breath and this course taught me so much about how to use my breath as I enter into and move through a pose. I have also enjoyed the pace of the class. By slowing down and focusing on a few poses at a time, I have learned so much body position, how to flow into and out of a pose, and again, how to use my breath. It has, I believe, created a stronger mind body connection."

"Janine did a great job with explaining all the poses and following up with the live class and coursebook. I feel more confident in doing the poses that will support my aging body!! She was so thorough in her presentations. I learned so much!!

"Yoga Basics Over 50 is a great program, and helped me correct the mistakes that I was making which were causing injury. This course saved my bacon!"

Who am I? I am Janine Agoglia and I have been practicing and teaching Vinyasa yoga since 1995.
