In her role at Finmark Trust Akhona is conceptualising and implementing programmes steered towards financial inclusion in South Africa. She is an experienced researcher with extensive involvement in educational and health research in rural South Africa. Her recent work is focussing on payment trends in township businesses. Akhona holds an honours degree in psychology and a master's degree in critical diversity studies from the University of the Witwatersrand.

Sustainable Livelihoods Foundation
In his role at the Sustainable Livelyhoods Foundation Sanele is applying his expertise in research and data visualisation to the context of the development potential of South African townships. His experience in data analysis combines well with the development context as he completed a Masters Degree in Development Economics and International Development at the University of Cape Town.
In a recent Entrepreneurial Planning Institute (EPI) project very encouraging trends emerged from a survey conducted amongst township entrepreneurs and the local business support practitioners. It was found that:
The main question the webinar panel will address is what approach entrepreneur support organisations (ESOs) and practitioners like business advisors and mentors may adopt. They will explore how an environment may be created by the various role players to unlock the potential of the diversity of township-based businesses, from hustlers earning a living through buying and selling; to formal enterprises that are reaching customers from far beyond their local community.
This interactive webinar will allow for engagement with the panel and amongst attendees who are committed to fostering the growth and success of township-based businesses in South Africa.
