Welcome to the warm, cosy online community where you’ll use English as a tool for deeper exploration, connection and expanding your language awareness.

Do you ever attend English classes and think ‘I wish this was a bit … deeper?’

You’ve worked hard and put in countless hours to get your English where it is today. You don’t need any more courses that follow textbooks, focus on grammar, and squeeze speaking into the last five minutes of the class.

Your mind isn’t stimulated by talking about your daily routine or endangered animals. You’re looking for more: more challenging topics, more thought-provoking conversations, and more meaningful connections with people who think differently - like you.

You want a course that allows you to polish your English and open your mind.

A course that gives you the space you need to:

✨pick up new critical thinking skills that not only help with your English, but help you deal with the challenges of life itself.

✨ learn how to be more gentle towards yourself, your failures, and your mistakes.

✨quieten that overly-critical perfectionist voice in your head that tells you your English still isn’t good enough.

    Meaningfully Fluent

This is an intimate online English membership which has been specially designed for advanced and proficient English users who are looking to create meaningful connections and dive into the deeper topics of how our world works and how we fit into it.

Each class lasts 90 minutes and has a maximum of four students. The small group size and longer lesson time means that you will have plenty of opportunities to speak, ask questions and reflect on your classmates’ ideas.

A membership that goes way beyond speaking classes.

We live in a fast-paced, ever-changing world so the small-group classes don’t follow a text book. Instead, you read, watch and listen to real personal development materials such as book extracts, articles, podcasts and videos.

Using these authentic materials will allow you to:

    • Strengthen your growth mindset so that you become more confident using advanced English at work, with friends or in your own language classes.

    • Reflect on deep topics and challenge yourself to think about complex matters in different ways

    • Connect with like-minded people from all over the world who share your love for learning

    • Develop your English language and critical thinking skills with regular feedback from me

The beginning of a more meaningful chapter

Each class lasts 90 minutes and has a maximum of four students. The small group size and longer lesson time means that you will have plenty of opportunities to speak, ask questions and reflect on your classmates’ ideas.

Each month has a theme: over four classes, we focus on the same topic but look at it from different angles by using a range of resources.

    Some examples of themes are:

    • Core values: what they are, why they’re important and how to identify them

    • Neuroplasticity: how our brains repair themselves, avoiding exaggerated hype, and the importance of making mistakes

    • Self-sabotage: how and why we get in our own ways, procrastination, perfectionism

You also have access to a private Telegram group where you can mingle with Meaningfully Fluent students from other groups, continue the conversations from class, ask questions, and share any other resources that pique your interest.

    How it works

Before each lesson: I’ll send you the materials to prepare for the class along with some questions to consider.

During each lesson: We will discuss the topic of the class preparation material, delving deeper into the language used, and strengthening your growth mindset so that you become more confident using advanced English in your own life.

I provide corrections and suggestions both during the class and as written feedback after the class finishes. Click here to see an example of the post-class written feedback.

At the end of every class: I will provide you with follow-up work to complete, including journal prompts. I understand that we live in a busy world with hectic schedules. Therefore, this follow-up work is optional and can be completed at any point during the course.

But what if I’m too busy to complete everything in time?

I understand that we live in a busy world with hectic schedules. Therefore, the follow-up work is optional and can be completed at any point during the course.

    What's next?

You'll receive an email in April informing you of the class times for the new groups starting in summer 2025.

I created this course because I know that a real love of learning languages comes from making meaningful connections and discussing subjects which truly fascinate us. I’ve spent years helping advanced and proficient-level students reach their goals of passing exams, getting through job interviews and giving presentations, but these have all been a means to an end.

I’ve seen time and again how students’ attitudes change completely when they take the foot off the gas and allow themselves to sink into enjoying using the English they’ve worked so hard to acquire after all these years.

I know that you’re tired of constantly chasing the impossible goal of ‘perfect English’. I know you’re fed up of memorising and regurgitating polished essay phrases or repetitive interview introductions. I know you can’t stomach any more lessons about topics in which you have absolutely no interest.

That’s why I’ve created Meaningfully Fluent: a space for you to become more open and thoughtful, think critically, and gain new perspectives on not just language, but life itself.

Meaningfully Fluent is for you if:

    • You love discussing deep topics that people around you shy away from

    • You often feel like you don’t fit into our capitalist, image-focused, shallow society

    • You want to improve your language skills with detailed feedback from a professional who shares your interest in deep conversations

    Do you have any questions?

All of the material is shared using Google Drive and the classes are held on Google Meet. Classes are recorded and the recording is also shared on Google Drive.

No, it’s optional and entirely up to you. You won’t miss out on any important information if you don’t join the group, as I will send you this by email.

The course will continue after three months and, so far, all of the students have chosen to carry on. I understand that it isn’t always possible to commit to a long-term course, hence the initial 3-month sign-up.

Our previous topics have covered identifying and living in accordance with our core values, neuroplasticity, self-sabotage, perfectionism and creativity. I am always open to suggestions of topics and do my best to cater the course to your needs and interests.

In order to be fully prepared for the classes and make the most of our 90-minutes together, you will need at least one hour a week outside of class to work on the pre-class material.

Payments are accepted via PayPal, bank transfer, international card payment (using Stripe) and Bizum (in Spain). Each payment of 60 euros should be made before the block of classes starts.

I look forward to hearing from you very soon!

    Warmly,

    Sarah
