Follow the Bees to Tropical Paradise

A 10-day bee immersion in Trinidad & Tobago where you will experience the world through compound eyes, taste tropical honey and hum with stingless bees at the edge of the Caribbean. Lead by natural beekeeper, international bee educator, Tita.

📍 Castara, Trinidad & Tobago | 🗓️ Early December 2026 | 👥 8 intimate spots | 🐝 Bee encounters daily

While Northern Hemisphere Shivers, the Tropics Hum

December in Tobago is magical: the summer solstice energy lingers, the rainy season gifts us lush landscapes, and the bees? They are living their best lives in 28°C warmth. This isn't just a vacation! It's 10 days of seeing the world as the bees do, in a place where honey bees work year-round and over 50 wild bee species (from emerald green bees to stingless specialists) create one of the most diverse bee ecosystems on Earth.

You will return home speaking bee.

This Is For You If...

You have ever wondered what bees are actually doing in the tropics

You are done with resorts and ready for real local immersion

You want adventure that feeds your brain AND your soul

You are a female traveling solo and want instant community (or you are a couple seeking fellow bee nerds)

You believe the best stories start with "So I followed this bee..."

You are ready to taste tropical honey and understand why terroir matters for bees too

The Bee Experiences:

Bee Watching That will Change You: Learn to see through their eyes, literally. We are talking UV vision, waggle dances and understanding what that buzz actually means. Centered on tropical honey bees, but we will spot everything from metallic green bees to stingless species going about their business.

Tropical Apiary Visit: Meet European honey bees living their best tropical lives. Watch them adapt, observe their tropical rhythm and understand how the same species behaves completely differently when palm trees replace oak trees.

Honey Sensory Journey Taste honeys you can't buy anywhere. Learn why some taste like caramel, others like medicine and how the bees are basically tiny terroir sommeliers.

Honey Bee Workshop I will teach you what I've learned from years with honey bees from their perspective. We will dive deep into tropical honey bee behaviour, but also explore the wild diversity of other bee species we encounter.

Warning: you might start defending wasps at dinner parties.

The Island Magic:

Rainforest & Reef Hike where hummingbirds mistake you for flowers. Snorkel where the reef rivals the rainforest for biodiversity.

Castara Immersion A village where the rhythm is drum parties, bonfire nights, and morning coffee watching parrots fly overhead.

Cacao to Ceremony Visit cacao trees (bee-pollinated, naturally), then sunset ceremony on the beach. The bees taught us about community, cacao helps us practice it.

Chef-Crafted Caribbean Cuisine Every meal prepared by our private chef, Craig, using local ingredients. Think: fresh fish, tropical fruits and flavours that make European winter feel like another planet.

A Taste of Your Days (Full itinerary shared after joining waitlist)

Morning: Breakfast and a refreshing swim in the Caribbean Sea.

Midday: Escape the heat with jungle bee watching, followed by lunch and another swim at a jungle waterfall.

Afternoon: Workshop with Tita and free time to relax or explore.

Evening: Dinner and bonfire by the beach bar, perfect for stargazing or sharing stories of the day's bee adventures.

Meet Your Host

I’m Tita, a natural beekeeper and international bee educator. I don’t just watch bees, I learn from them, speak for them and politely roll my eyes at anyone who thinks they are just honey machines.

My approach? Science-based, clear and always from the bees’ perspective. The best bee lessons happen standing in front of a hive, slightly nervous, completely mesmerised, asking, “Wait, what are they actually doing?”

I have been to Tobago on multiple occasions, made amazing friends and built connections. The island's bee diversity is magical. Honey bees behaving in tropical ways I never expected. Metallic green bees like flying jewels. Stingless bees with societies as complex as any human village. Sweat bees licking our skin for the salty deposit. Every hike uncovers new species and I’ve learned the best teachers are the ones who don’t follow a manual, they just do their thing.

My job: Translate bee. Your job: Bee curious.
(Also, my husband Craig is a professional fine dining chef. He feeds humans while I explain why bees prefer certain flowers. Works perfectly.)

Small Group. Big Experience.

Just 8 People This isn't a tour bus situation. It's intimate enough that you will remember everyone's name and which bee behaviour blew their mind most.

Solo Female Travelers Welcome (Actually Welcome) Many retreats say this. We mean it. The vibe is community-focused, safe and structured for connection. You will likely make friends before you even arrive. Couples are equally welcome, there is something special about sharing bee wonder with your person.

All-Inclusive (Except Flights & drinks) Accommodation, all meals by Chef Craig, activities, workshops, transport during retreat and unlimited bee questions. You focus on being present, we handle everything else.

Castara Village Base Your accommodation is walking distance to the beach, to the jungle, the local bar (bonfire headquarters) and several bee observation spots. It's a real village, not a resort, which means real community, real rhythms, real life.

FAQs

Q: I'm traveling solo. Will I be the only one?
We have visited Castara twice before, so we know the lay of the land. Accommodation is in double rooms (single rooms don’t exist) so you can either share with another guest or pay a small supplement to have the full room to yourself. Solo travelers are very welcome and the small group makes connection effortless. Bring your bestie is also a great option.

Q: Do I need bee experience?
Absolutely not. Curiosity is the only prerequisite. I will teach you everything from "that is a bee" to "here is why that bee just did a figure-8 dance." All experience levels welcome.

Q: Are we working with stingless bees?
We will encounter many species, including stingless bees, sweat bees and honey bees, but this isn’t a stingless-bee-only trip. We will be observing bees in the wild, not handling them.

Q: What if I’m allergic to bee stings?
Since we won’t be handling bees, the risk is low, but it’s still wise to be prepared. We recommend arriving with travel insurance and getting a sting allergy test beforehand if you are unsure. Please disclose any allergies on your application.

Q: Are activities indoors or outdoors?
A: Almost everything happens outdoors. Meals, workshops, bee watching, hikes, beach gatherings. Caribbean life naturally takes place in the open air. Indoor time is mostly for sleeping and showers.

Q: I’m bringing my partner. Is this too “girly”?
Bees don’t care about gender and neither do we. Couples fit beautifully into the group dynamic. The schedule balances guided activities with plenty of time to explore or relax independently.

Q: How active is this retreat?
Moderate. Expect uneven paths, snorkelling in the sea and optional hikes. Everything is adaptable and nothing is mandatory. If your heart says “lie on the beach and read,” that is completely valid.

Q: Will there be WiFi?
Yes, but it’s island WiFi. Think “messages will send eventually” rather than “I’m uploading a 4K video.” The connection is reliable enough for essentials and we will be too busy soaking in the Caribbean to miss it much.

Q: What is the investment?
Pricing will be shared with waitlist members first, along with early-bird options. A payment plan will be available. The final price will depend on how many people join, which helps us decide on accommodation and transport logistics, like how many mini buses we will need. Joining the waitlist gives you first notice and the best chance to secure your spot.

Q: When do I need to decide?
Waitlist members will be notified before public booking opens, expected early Spring. No obligation. It simply keeps you in the loop.

Why You Are In Safe Hands

With my partner Chef Craig, we have more than 20 years working in hospitality. We have run restaurants, catered weddings and private fine dining events and fed thousands of people with care and precision. After the pandemic we stepped into beekeeping and ecological work, so this immersion is the first time we are bringing both worlds together.

We have spent time in Tobago before, stayed in Castara and connected with the local community, guides, growers and accommodation providers. We are not doing this at random. We are crafting something intentional, nature-focused and experience-led.

This is our first Tropical Bee Immersion, which means you will BEE part of creating something special with us. We will take care of the details, we will listen closely and we will make sure you feel supported every step of the way.

The Bees Are Waiting

Ten days. 8 people. Countless bees. One unforgettable immersion into tropical bee life, Caribbean culture and the kind of travel that changes how you see the world.

December's spots are limited by design. This isn't an experience that scales, it's one that deepens.

Join the waitlist to be first to know when booking opens, receive early-bird pricing and get our pre-trip bee preparation resources.
