Hagan Foundation Supports Regional Education Projects with Opportunity Grants
The Spokane-based Hagan Foundation has awarded approximately $437,729 in Opportunity Grant funding to 34 regional education projects for the 2024-25 school year. These grants support a variety of initiatives aimed at enhancing educational opportunities for students in northeast Washington.
Of the total funding, $316,900 was allocated to 22 regional school districts. Additionally, $15,000 was designated for NEWESD 101 to support GED and career pathway curriculum, as well as licenses and subscriptions for court-involved youth through the agency’s Juvenile Detention School Services department.
Notable school district projects funded include:
Innovation Hubs: St. John School District received $31,019 to develop a hands-on, project-based learning program melding technology with creativity.
Empowering Educators at Lake Spokane Elementary: Nine Mile Falls School District received $25,000 to enhance learning through AI technology, giving teachers more time to focus on their students while improving engagement and achievement.
Kettle Falls High School Metal Fabrication: Kettle Falls School District was awarded $25,412 to fund a metal fabrication program, equipping students with skills for careers in manufacturing and trades.
Health and Fitness: Meeting the Mental and Physical Needs of Students, Staff, and Families: LaCrosse School District received $11,389 to enhance health and fitness programs for students and staff, with a focus on mental and physical wellness.
STEAM Showcase with 3D Printing and Laser Engraving Technology: West Valley High School was awarded $14,000 to create a STEAM showcase incorporating 3D printing and laser engraving technologies, providing students with hands-on experiences in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math.
These projects, along with others across the region, demonstrate the Hagan Foundation’s commitment to advancing educational excellence in northeast Washington.
