Collection of 20 Readings

Mamaestra offers so many opportunities to introduce your children to the language. The stories are written for children, using a simple sentence structure. This is a plus for early Spanish learners because the same content is repeated in the Mamaestra ́s songbook, toybook, workbook, and now in the stories. Repetition builds a strong foundation in vocabulary and grammar.

In this version, both Spanish and English translations are provided, which is set up for optimal learning. Since Mamaestra's stories are short, moms with tight schedules need only spend a minimal amount of time reading them.

The goal of this challenge is to create a habit of bilingual reading through 20 small readings. An important aspect of bilingual reading in diverse cities like San Francisco is that it opens up the mind to new experiences, new cultures, and new sources of knowledge. Overall, our products emphasize the importance of reading in another language. Mamaestra StoryBook Program makes reading fun and challenging.

WHY: Why Are Bilingual Reading Skills Important?

It's important to repeat and reproduce the language as frequently as possible in the Mamaestra program in order to develop your skills, so you'll notice specific phrases and grammatical structures recurring. As a result of reading, words become familiar to us and become ingrained in our brains. PLUS, the mini-book craft integrates art and creativity for our children. In bilingual books, sentences, context, and intentions are provided in both languages, so children and adults are able to compare/learn sentence structure and see similarities between words, which makes them eager to use their newfound literacy skills in another language.

It is possible to improve their speaking and writing skills by reading. It is a great challenge for kids to read in a second language (REtobilinguismo). Some vocabulary will be introduced in the target language. The context can help them understand what words mean. By applying critical reading here, participants can analyze and question the assumptions in the text. By doing so, they are able to come to their own conclusions.

    But also, we

    • Contributed to cognitive development.

    • The ability to communicate in foreign languages has improved.

    • Developing academic success skills if the child is going to an immersion program.

    • Your child and you developing a special bond if you read at home.

    • Enhanced concentration and discipline.

    • The ability to imagine and create is improved.

    • Developing a lifelong love of reading.

      Our Process

👉🏻We start early: It is never too early to start reading to your child in both languages. Even if they are babies, reading to them in both languages can help them develop an ear for the sounds of each language.

👉🏻We have the Mamaestra’s age-appropriate books: Our books are appropriate for your child's age and reading level in both languages. For younger children, picture books are a great choice because they have visual aids to help them understand the story. Check out our 10 mini-book collection.

👉🏻We read together: Read the same book in both languages and take turns reading each page. This can help children understand the meaning of words and phrases in both languages.

👉🏻We talk about the story: After reading, we talk with your child about what happened in the story. We Ask questions to help them understand the story and its themes in both languages.

👉🏻We make it fun: Use different voices and sound effects while reading to make the experience more engaging and fun. You can also act out the story with your child to make it more interactive.

👉🏻Repeat: while we make the mini-booklets, we repeat and they retell the story, which is key to learning, so repeat the same books in both languages to reinforce the vocabulary and language structures.

Our reading program is a great way to help children develop their language skills in both languages while fostering a love of reading and Spanish language passion.
