Support the Bees (And the Human Who Studies Them)
Because Conservation Isn't Free and Neither Are Bee Boxes
Here is the thing: I could keep bees in a way that maximises honey production. I could sell queens, split hives aggressively and turn this into a profit-driven operation.
But I don't. Because that is not what this is about.
The Beewitching Embassy exists to:
Protect native dark honey bee genetics (increasingly rare and desperately needed)
Provide sanctuary for colonies to live according to their biology, not human convenience
Educate people about honey bees, natural beekeeping and why it all matters
Observe and document bee behaviour for research and teaching
None of that pays the bills. But it's the work that needs doing. If you value what I am creating (the education, the conservation, the nerdy bee content) here is how you can help.

Make a Donation 💛
Your contribution supports:
Hive maintenance: New hives, frames and nucs for growing hives (every year we need more as the bees expand!)
Forage & care: Herbs for the herbal honey bee tea I prepare throughout the season, winter provisions and safe forage plantings
Research & documentation: Cameras, observation tools, field notes that turn into insights and teaching resources
Education access: Free or low-cost resources for curious humans
Conservation: Protecting native bee populations through ethical beekeeping and habitat support
Even £10 plants a bee-friendly shrub. £60 funds a new nuc. £170 funds a new hive. Every bit helps.
This work matters. Not just for honeybees, but for the entire web of pollinators, plants, fungi and ecosystems they are woven into.

Why This Matters
Honeybees don't exist in a vacuum. They are indicator species. When they struggle, it's a symptom of larger ecological collapse: habitat loss, pesticide use, monoculture farming, climate disruption.
By supporting natural beekeeping, you are supporting:
Biodiversity: Bees pollinate wild plants, which feed other insects, which feed birds, which... you get it.
Genetic diversity: Native bees adapted to local climates are more resilient than imported genetics.
Education: The more people understand bees, the more they protect them.
A different way of relating to the natural world: One based on observation and respect, not extraction and control.
This work is grounded in observation, ecology and careful attention to how bees actually live.
