Child Safety

We are committed to providing a safe, fun environment for all our members here at Canterbury Cougars

Our Commitment

Our Club is committed to child safety

  • Support and respect all children
  • Have zero tolerance for child abuse
  • Have systems in place to protect children
  • Recognise that children with a disability, and children from diverse cultures may need additional, tailored support.
  • Support and comply with Basketball Victoria’s Child Safe policies and procedures.

The Canterbury Cougars Basketball Club is committed to ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our young players, coaches, families and officials.

We support Basketball Victoria’s Child Safe Standards and have appointed a Child Safety Officer responsible for matters concerning child safety and abuse.

CHILD WELFARE OFFICER

The Canterbury Cougars Child Safety Officer is currently Liz Bromwich. She can be contacted by sending an email to [email protected].

All members and club representatives are expected to discuss any concerns they may have about the welfare of a child immediately with the nominated Child Safety Officer.

The Club’s Child Safety Officer will be required to report incidents noted by them to the appropriate authority at Basketball Victoria who will then ascertain whether or not the person/s involved in the incident plays a role in the organisation and act accordingly.

This is not just for adults, young people can make a report too!

Something doesn't feel quite right.  Something is worrying me and I'm not sure if its a big deal

Something is definitely not right!  I know there is a problem and I do need help with it!
