WHY COMPASSION OVER CAPITALISM:
I have a background in Diversity and Equity work.
One of the most heartbreaking things I learned was the very real uphill battle Black & Brown people face in ALL workplaces - especially Black Women. Studies have revealed that in almost every space, Black women are the lowest paid and get the least support.
Black and Brown women are also paid less. So, the narrative that's often pushed to solve for this - is that we need to work harder, lean in more, be more resilient. But that's not actually the truth.
Between the lack of support, the discrimination, the wage gaps that create actual poverty and inhibit our ability to build and sustain wealth, and the unrealistic standards— it's more than just an uphill battle; it's an unfair one.
...and it absolutely impacts our ability to succeed and creates delays that need not be.
We get the least support in the workplace and we make the least amount of money. To get support, your only option is to invest in coaching on your own, but if all the best programs are over twenty five thousand dollars - how is that supposed to happen?
It's a vicious cycle: you need support to make money, but you need money to access the support.
Whew. What a mess.
I'm frankly tired of this loop, and I know many of you are too.

We can't kill capitalism or systemic issues by ourselves, but we can damned sure do our part to make things accessible and not continue to perpetuate the harm that these structures and barriers create.
