CRAFT RAVE ALL-AGES & 18+ WILL RETURN IN OCTOBER 2026

Some ideas arrive fully formed. When a friend sent Tammra a video of a woman hosting a Craft Rave in Toronto, she did not need time to think about it. The concept, a space where people make things together while music moves through the room, fit so precisely with everything she had spent decades building toward that she launched Comox Valley Craft Rave almost immediately. The community responded with enthusiasm, and something new and necessary took root in the valley.

Tammra, known to dance floors across the region as DJ sprouT, has been moving people with music for over two decades. She is a DJ, curator, and event promoter, but that is only part of who she is. Tammra is also a Registered Holistic Nutritionist and NLP Advanced Humanistic Practitioner, with over 20 years of experience working with people on their physical, mental, and emotional health. These two paths, the turntables and the healing work, have never been as separate as they might appear. Music moves the body. Creativity rewires the mind. Community reminds people that they are not alone. Tammra has lived this knowledge not just professionally but personally, having navigated her own journey through debilitating anxiety, chronic illness, and the hard work of building a life in genuine alignment. That lived experience is woven into everything she creates. sprouT Productions is her third production company and the fullest expression yet of a creative philosophy she has carried throughout her career: that events should have purpose, and that the people in the room matter as much as anything happening on the stage.

Her husband and creative partner Tony has been by her side in sprouT Productions since 2010, and together they form the backbone of everything Comox Valley Craft Rave is and is becoming. Known as Tony's Tie Dyes, Tony has been creating next-level tie-dye work since the 1990s, was invited to tie-dye cups in Las Vegas, and has won a Tie Dye Cup, placing him among some of the most recognized practitioners of the craft. His presence in Craft Rave is a natural extension of who he is: someone who understands instinctively what it means to be fully immersed in the act of making something.

Why Craft Rave? Because music and art belong together, and because Tammra has seen firsthand what happens when people are given a genuine space to create, move, and connect without pressure or judgment. She knows what isolation feels like. She knows what it costs people to white-knuckle their way through social situations that were never designed with them in mind. And she knows, from years of working with people on their wellbeing, that creativity and community can be good medicine.

Together, Tammra and Tony have built Comox Valley Craft Rave into a gathering that reflects both of their worlds. Events run in two formats. All-Ages daytime events welcome everyone, families, children, teens, seniors, and anyone in between, on a by-donation sliding scale so that cost is never a barrier to showing up. Evening 18+ events bring a full rave atmosphere while keeping the craft tables front and centre. In both formats, (so far) supplies and tools are provided at no extra cost, because access to materials should never be what stands between someone and a creative experience.

What makes Comox Valley Craft Rave distinct is what it offers people who would never describe themselves as the type to go out. Someone who may have social anxiety, who would not walk into a club and stand there alone, can slide into a booth, pick up a glue stick, and immediately have something to do and a reason to be there. The craft table is an anchor. It changes the social equation entirely. And while hands are busy making, conversation flows naturally, strangers become collaborators, and the room fills with the particular warmth that comes from people being creative together without judgment or competition.

This spirit of inclusion runs through every layer of how Comox Valley Craft Rave is organized. Vibe Guides are community members who circulate through each event to hold the space, check in with participants, and make sure everyone feels safe and supported. Daytime All-Ages events are sensory-considerate, with volume adjustments available and outdoor space for fresh air. sprouT Productions intentionally hires DJs, vendors, demo presenters, and Vibe Guides from communities that are too often excluded from event production, including people with disabilities, Indigenous artists, and others from marginalized backgrounds, while remaining open and conscious rather than prescriptive in that choosing. This is simply a reflection of who Comox Valley Craft Rave is built for and by.

The events are hosted in local Comox Valley venues and built through a network of local DJs, makers, and community collaborators. A monthly newsletter keeps the community connected between events, spotlighting artists, sharing recorded sets, and opening doors for people who want to get involved as vendors, demo presenters, or future hosts. The vision has always been bigger than any single event: Comox Valley Craft Rave is a model that can grow, and Tammra and Tony have already opened the door to other community members and groups who may want to host their own Craft Rave.

Comox Valley Craft Rave exists because Tammra and Tony believe that creativity and music are not extras. They are how people find each other, how communities hold together, and how individuals remember what it feels like to make something with their own hands. After more than two decades of moving dance floors, working in holistic health, and a lifetime of making art, they are putting all of that experience into something built for this valley, for these people, and for the simple and profound idea that everyone deserves a place to land, a place to play, and a place to dance.

Community Code of Ethics & Code of Conduct

Our Intention: Craft Rave is a creative, playful, community gathering where everyone is invited to make, move, and connect with care, curiosity, and respect.

CODE OF ETHICS

These are our shared values.

  • Care First: We look out for ourselves, each other, and the space. If someone looks overwhelmed, check in gently (get permission first).

  • Consent & Respect: Ask before touching people, their bodies, or their art. A clear “no” is always okay.

  • Creativity Over Perfection: There is no right way to make. We celebrate experimentation, mess, and play.

CODES OF CONDUCT

This is how we behave together.

  • Be Kind, Be Curious, Be Chill: No shaming, no bullying, no harassment, no judgment.

  • Share the Space: Take turns, clean up after yourself, and help keep things welcoming. Share supplies if you have extra.

  • Stay Present: If you need space, step outside or find a quiet corner. If you are someone who is easily overstimulated we suggest you bring headphones or ear plugs and definitely go outside for some fresh air. During our day time events we will take short rests to reset, in between. This is not a facilitated event, if you need to stretch, do some breathing or regulating please have your tools ready.

  • Ask a Vibe Guide if you need extra support and we will do our best to get you what you need.

  • Report anything strange or out of integrity to Tammra or a Vibe Guide immediately.

IMPORTANT HOUSE GUIDELINES

  • If our venue is licensed for alcohol sales, ID is required to purchase alcohol. No ID, no drinks.

  • Children must stay with their parents or guardians at all times (unless otherwise stated)

  • Hot glue and other extra messy materials are in designated areas only.

  • Please use the provided table coverings (or bring your own) before using anything that could stain or damage tables or chairs.

  • Please make sure there is a table cover at your table (plastic, newspaper etc.) to protect the tables if we are making at a restaurant.

  • Ask us if you need something.

  • Respect the venue. Treat the space as if it were your own home.

  • Leave no trace. Please tidy your table before you go.

  • For dancing, consent comes first. Ask before entering someone’s dance space, and be aware of your body and others around you, especially kids when it’s an all-ages event. Also, all kinds of creative movement is welcome.

  • Be scent-aware. Please keep perfumes light or none at all. No incense. Use extra smelly art supplies outside.

  • If the music is too loud, find a table that is further away from the DJ and sound. If it’s still way too loud let us know and we can adjust it.

FEEDBACK IS WELCOME

  • We are always learning and growing together.

  • Please share thoughts with Tammra (afterwards unless urgent), a Vibe Guide or by message after the event. Take notes as we build this together.

  • Feedback is always welcome as are testimonials.

"Vibe Guiding at the craft rave was energizing and genuinely fun. The room buzzed with music, creativity, and people helping each other make some beautiful art together. I loved watching strangers turn into collaborators and seeing participants light up when their projects came together. I left satisfied, inspired, and excited to do it again. If you’re looking for a way to meet new friends while having a great time, this is the place to jump in."
