What got you into Djing and house music? Early in high school was when I first found EDM and I instantly fell in love but it wasn't until college, when I moved to Colorado, where I really dove deep into the EDM scene and became truly inspired by the sounds. I partially have Red Rocks to thank for that... Since then, EDM has been a healthy obsession of mine. Music is literally healing.  I am a mental health nurse practitioner in my full time career and there is a ton of evidence based research that proves the healing effects of music. It is a pretty miraculous thing and is one of the reasons why I got into DJing. Music brings me a sense of connectedness, confidence and freedom.  I'd consider myself an introvert, somewhat shy in social settings, but when I am DJing, dancing, or listening to music all the internal chatter goes away. It is where I feel the most free and I want to spread the healing effects of music to others.

Where are you from and what are some of your hobbies/interests?I'm originally from Chicago and I moved to Colorado after high school. Outside of Djing and music events, I enjoy spending time outdoors. In the winter I spend most of my time skiing. In the summer I enjoy camping, traveling, and playing tennis.

Favorite set you've seen? This is a tough one. Black Coffee at Red Rocks was sick.  I really want to attend a Cercle set.

Music inspo and favorite artists? Within EDM, my music inspo comes from all the subgenres within house and techno music. I enjoy the other genres within EDM music but they dont typically give me the same tingly feeling that house and techno gives me. Recently listening to Eli Brown, WhoMadeWho, Layla Benitez, Lilly Palmer, Carlita, LP Giobbi, Chris Stussy, Adam Ten

Song you're into right now?The Days (Notion Remix) by Chrystal is such a vibe right now.

Why are you excited to play for Java Jams?! Because who doesn't like coffee and dancing!? Coffee shop pop ups are so in right now and we need more of them in Denver.  I can't wait to get everyone moving on the dance floor.

Where can we find you playing next? I've got some fun ones coming up! Check out my insta @breezy_onthedecks. It is where I link all of my upcoming shows, soundcloud mixes, and more.

What got you into DJing and house music What got me into DJing and house music was so bizarre. I’ve obviously always been a music head and hogged the aux cord in any vehicle or house party, but I literally just woke up one day and decided that I must learn how to DJ — that day. It was June of 2024. I found a DDJ-400 on Facebook for $100 and bought some Pioneer DM-40s for another $100, and my life was never the same.

Where are you from and what are some of your hobbies/interests I’m originally from South Carolina, but I’ve been living in Denver for almost 3 years now. A beach girl at heart, I love spending time by the water and surfing. I’m also a graphic designer, so it’s been super helpful that I designed my own logo and all my marketing/branding materials.

Favorite set you’ve seen This is such a hard one because I bounce between genres so much. But super recently, it was probably when Luke Alessi and Marco Lys were in Denver for a Casa Alta show at Zodiac House. The afters went all night long, and they played back-to-back — the energy was just electric. I remember they turned on the lights at like 5 a.m. (or whenever it ended) and told everyone to leave, and Luke dropped a Michael Jackson track because NO ONE is gonna tell you to turn off MJ. The vibes were just unreal, and I remember thinking, “what a savage play.” It was absolutely epic!

Music inspo and/or favorite artist(s) I take music inspiration from all over the world. One of my biggest passions — and probably the only one that fully lines up with DJing — is traveling. Whenever I travel, I stay Shazaming. I think bringing people and cultures together through music is one of the most beautiful things I could ever do. Most recently, I spent a few weeks in Colombia, specifically in the party scene in Medellín, and became obsessed with reggaeton. I think the house and funky music coming out of South America is some of the best in the world right now — especially Brazilian funk and bass house. I can’t get enough!

Song you're into right now Fall Night – Visage Music Super dark, deep, and moody — just the way I like it! One of my friends said someone in the crowd called me evil when I played this at an afters around 3 a.m. because the speakers were thumping so much, and honestly, I think that’s awesome lol.

Fun fact or anything else you want to share? When I started DJing, I could not for the life of me decide on a name. I ended up changing it three times, and it was bothering me so much. People kept saying it should be about the music, not the name — but as a content marketer in my day job, I was so annoyed because I know how important branding is. I ended up landing on Brittz, because my full name is Brittany and it was really important to me that my DJ brand felt personal and true to who I am. Having some random name just didn’t feel authentic, and I’m so grateful I stuck with this one. Plus… I think my logo goes so hardddd.

Why are you excited to play for Java Jams?! I’m excited to play for Java Jams because I think it’s so important — especially in these crazy times — to bring people together and build community through music and dancing. I’ve also admittedly always been obsessed with those YouTube sets of morning house music in coffee shops, so this is literally a dream come true. I can’t wait to support this initiative, the Denver scene, and other women artists.

Where can we find you playing next… I’ve got a few shows coming up! I’ll be playing a day party called SUN CITY Vol. 1 at Desert Social presented by NAPAWIKA on April 13 alongside Her Mans, Maro, and Briella. I also have a couple of unannounced shows on April 16 and 17 (I can send you the details depending on when you post this!) and I’ll be making my Miami debut on June 7 — also currently unannounced👀

What got you into DJing?

I am a classically trained pianist and I played clarinet from middle school until my sophomore year of college - so I have always been around music and felt inspired by many types of music. When Covid hit - I needed a creative outlet to keep me sane. My husband (boyfriend at the time) taught me the basics of DJing on a beginner controller (DDJ-400) - and I just fell in love with it. I used the music theory I learned from my clarinet and piano days, along with my love for several genres of music and used that knowledge to develop my own personal style and curation process - and I started posting mixes on SoundCloud for fun.

I was encouraged by my husband and friends to play in front of people. I didn’t want to at first…it was a hobby for me to help with my mental health, and I didn’t think anyone would care about me DJing or how I thought about music. Over time, I decided to play in front of people in Spring 2023 - and after I saw how strangers reacted, I won several DJing competitions, and I was asked by Headstash Music Collective to do a guest mix - I decided that pursuing DJing outside of my bedroom was something worth exploring further - and in 2024 I decided to be ALL IN - and the rest is history!

I am so happy I made the leap because I have had some of the best experiences and met some amazing people that I wouldn’t have otherwise. I have developed a true passion for the craft and for being involved within the the local community!

Where are you from and what are some of your hobbies / interests

I am originally from Keywest Florida. Grew up in Jacksonville FL. Moved to Denver four years ago!

Outside of music, I enjoy time with my husband and our cats. Hanging out with friends. Working out. Trying new restaurants - especially brunch!! Traveling! Self improvement - so journaling, reading articles, and reading books.

Music inspo and or favorite artist(s)

I have respect and get my inspiration from most genres/sub genres - experimental bass, trap, house, DnB, pop, hip hop, indie …you name it! - and I try to show that within my sets. I think music is supposed to bring people together - and I like finding elements from different genres and bringing them together within my sets whenever I can.

Song you're into right now

I don’t have a favorite song usually - but I go through phases of crate digging within the genre(s) I am feeling at the moment. Right now, I’ve been really listening to a lot of tech house and UKG!

Why are you excited to play for Java jams?!

Java Jams being female founded is what piqued my interest first and foremost - I have a passion for uplifting women and other marginalized groups within the community and highlighting artists and businesses that fall within that wherever I can. Overall, Java Jams has a genuine community feel - and I love the diverse partnerships that they have - and are continuing to work towards. I am honored that I am a part of something so special - and that I can bring my personal style of DJing into it.

And of course - coffee! ;)

What got you into djing and house music

KREAM youtube videos. My college roommate and I would watch KREAM sets before we went to bars and clubs, and I realized they had the best job on Earth. KREAM plays pop-up sets in obscure, beautiful locations, which is something I dream of doing in the future.

Where are you from and what are some of your hobbies / interests

I am from Nashville, Tennessee. I've played soccer the majority of my life, and I love hiking and traveling. I most notably stayed in South Korea for a month, where I explored Seoul, Sokcho beach, Gangnam, Busan, and lots of other neighbouring districts. I only moved to Denver in September of 2024, but I've picked up skiing here as well.

What got you into djing and bass music

I actually started DJing house music, but over the years have shifted into primarily bass-forward EDM and evolved my sound into what it is today. I've been inspired by different artists I've seen live or streamed their music, friends I've made/collaborated with in the bass community:

BASS IN THE MULTI-SPACE

Sounds rooted in experimental bass, trap, house, and UKG.

Where are you from and what are some of your hobbies / interests

What got you into djing and house music?

My dad used to work nights delivering pizzas and I would always want to join him.  He used to play music that had such a cool groove and very little lyrics, something I never heard before.  I would ask what type of music this was, found out it was called house music, and felt fascinated by the way the music moved me.  As I got older, I explored other genres, but always came back to house music.  Then in high school the documentary, "Under the Electric Sky" came out which spoke about the openness and acceptance at music festivals.  I decided to go to my first rave, and finally felt like I belonged somewhere.  I loved how the DJ made me feel through their mixes and I wanted to do the same for other people.  This beautiful community and connective music made me want to become a DJ and music producer.

Where are you from and what are some of your hobbies / interests?

I am originally from Upstate NY.  I love trying new restaurants, traveling to new places, and exploring amazing nature spots.  I am a sucker for a good travel show, Anthony Bourdain will always be king of travel foodie shows for me.  It's cool to experience the creativity of chefs and the plates they put out for people to enjoy.

Favorite set you’ve seen?

This is a tough one, but I have always loved Yellow Claw and saw them at a smaller show in Connecticut.  I was at the rail and it was amazing to experience their OG trap set!  Trap will always have a sweet spot in my heart.

Music inspo and or favorite artist(s)

I've been in a G-House, Bass House, and Latin Tech groove lately.  I would say Nostalgix, Bijou, Wax Motif, and Holt 88.  There are so many more I could list though and I'm consistently inspired by new artists I discover.

Song you're into right now

Love the vibes of Malada by Slow Groove, that bassline goes wild!

Fun fact or anything else you want to share?

I went to school for city planning, and I'm an urban planner by day! I find it cool to find out how cities were created and why they were located where they are today.  So many cities are growing rapidly and I enjoy finding solutions to obtain affordable housing, protect the environment, and provide amenities to residents.

Why are you excited to play for Java jams?!

Java jams brings a unique energy and vibe to Denver that I want to join! I think people are looking for fun day parties to enjoy in a different way than before.  It's always cool as a DJ to see people vibe with your set day or night, it allows people to live in the moment.

Where can we see you playing next?

I will be playing at Mister Oso in Rino and Señor Bear in Highland in the next couple of months.

What got you into DJing?
Music has always been medicine for me—a way to process life, move energy, and tap into something bigger than myself. DJing started as curiosity, then turned into communion. It gave me a way to share joy, catharsis, and groove with other people in real time. It’s more than just playing tracks—it’s spiritual, playful, and deeply alive. To me, music is life, it is spirituality.

Where are you from and what are some of your hobbies/interests?
I’m based in Denver, CO—but I’ve lived, traveled, and DJ’d all over, including time in Tulum, Mexico and Chiang Mai, Thailand. I’m a former overseas basketball player, current SPENGA coach, and full-time sound nerd. Beyond music, I’m into fitness, philosophy, spirituality, and exploring how movement, frequency, and intention can shape reality. Also: I share a kitten named Andouille (aka Sausage Boi) who is a whole character and that I may be a bit obsessed with. He's all over my IG stories and I am unapologetic about it.

Favorite set you’ve seen?
GRiZ at Okeechobee or St. Augustine Amphitheater—those were both full-body, soul-level experiences. The energy, the message, the funk. Total transcendence. That said, Excision at Echostage was my first-ever bass show, and it lit the initial spark that got me hooked into the scene.

Music inspo and/or favorite artist(s)?
GRiZ is the north star. His ability to blend funk, soul, bass, and intention is unmatched—and his message of radical self-expression and love-through-sound continues to guide me.
Beyond GRiZ, I draw inspiration from a wide range of artists: Mau P, Block & Crown, Matroda, AYYBO, The Polish Ambassador, Fisher,

Chris Lake, Megan Hamilton, The Floozies, Daily Bread, LSDREAM, CloZee, Dr. Fresch, Akira the Don, and John Summit, among so many others.

Outside of EDM, I’ve got deep love for Bill Withers, Bob Marley, Johnny Cash, Stevie Wonder, Paul Cauthen, The California Honeydrops, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Lil Wayne, Eminem, Londrelle, Illuminati Congo, and Thee Sacred Souls. I’m genre-fluid, but the throughline is always soul.

It's funny- I play mostly house music, although I'm a genre-bender, and I do spin bass (primarily dubstep) as well- I find myself equally at home at Forbidden Kingdom or Envision. Music is beautiful, no matter form it takes.

Song you’re into right now:
“This Is My Life (Bontan Remix).” Been rinsing it non-stop. Deep, soulful, and a total mood-lifter.

Fun fact or anything else you want to share?
I go by SideQuest Panda, and I have ambigram tattoos on my hands that say “Omnia” and “Nihil”—Latin for “everything” and “nothing.” I believe we’re all on a side quest of some kind, and the groove is part of the way home. Also, I sometimes DJ with my kitten. He’s a vibe.

Why are you excited to play for Java Jams / What do you like about being a part of Java Jams?
Java Jams feels like a collective soul exhale. It’s the kind of space where music, coffee, and community blend into something bigger than the sum of their parts. Daytime dancefloors hit different—people are present, the energy is light but intentional, and the vibe is always authentic. I love that it’s not about clout or hype—it’s about connection. I’m honored to be part of something so rooted, joyful, and real.

Yo Java Jams!I

I'm Michael Surface, and I'm excited to play for everyone on April 5th. It's going to be a bop!I got into DJing while between jobs, and to see if I could figure it out.

The real reason....I wanted to press all the buttons and turn the knobs.A few of my favorite sets are Avicii EDC 2011, Alesso Lollapalooza 2016 (I cried when he played Calling), and Skrillex Red Rocks 2023.

I like too many artists to list, but I love Eric Prydz, Above & Beyond, John Summit, and Dom Dolla. Dom Dolla x Kid Cudi will be the song of summer 25!

I'm excited to play for Java Jams because there's nothing better than espresso and house music.See everyone there!
