Be the first to get the latest news about my books, to read the serial story series that I post on my blog, and get behind the scenes information about the Somerled Universe.
I send out my newsletter on the first Thursday of the month with links to what I have been reading, a short story, and more. Join me on my journey and become a Somerledian today.
Kristina was born in Dallas, Texas. Growing up, she rode horses, danced, and escaped into a book whenever she could. She did play-by-post role-playing in the early days of AOL chatrooms, and that is where her love of character and world building began. Her first stories were based on those early role-playing characters and eventually, she began writing to entertain her family and friends.
A gamer-girl, she met her husband playing World of Warcraft. They have three children, three dogs and a cat. Their family lives south of Dallas, in a home filled with books, Legos, and board games.
She is the author of the In Blood and Fire Series, set in the Somerled Universe.

This series is both classic and refreshing with the first entry not pulling any punches. It is refreshing to read realistic characters with incredible nuance, meaningful relationships, and brutal short comings that drive the story forward. The fast paced chapters made it easy to sneak in 1 or 2 (or 10 chapters) when time allowed. I can say that by the time I finished reading From the Ashes, I was hooked and couldn't wait for the rest of the books to arrive. The series only improves and get hotter with each novel!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is a well written tale full of vivid characters, family issues, and court intrigue. The characters are well developed and multi-dimensional. The story is filled with delightful moments as well as high drama and danger. I recommend it highly.

This book. Oh. My. Gods!!! Where do I even begin? The characters are wonderfully diverse, in both personality and appearance. The world itself is fully realized, complete with it's own rules of magic, religion, and politics that are easy to follow and understand. Everyone can find someone to relate to in this series, be it through appearance or romantic tastes. And the romance is tastefully written, alternating between the artful use of the "fade to black" moment, or the occasional detailed scene that will get the temperature rising without being "raunchy" or crass. Strong female characters are abundant without being redundant or condescending, and don't think that means the men in the book are all weak. There is a wonderful balance of weak and strong among both sexes that shows how stereotypical gender roles can be limiting if not downright dangerous to the human experience.
I laughed, I cried (IN PUBLIC), and would put this series on the same level as Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time, David Eddings' Belgariad and Mallorean, and J.R.R. Tolkein's Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. If you love fantasy novels, I promise you will enjoy this series.

This series is amazing!! I read the first book in a day. Forget life I was hooked and could not put it down. The characters are real and you fall in love with them and hate some all the same. It is a complete world that you get immersed in and want to visit one day. Not your typical book that seems like you have read the storyline a million times just written in a different way. I cant wait to get to the next books in this series.
