Every book deserves a new chapter

OUR STORY

While sourcing materials for my PhD research on Canadian comics, I hit a wall.

In Canada, readers are often forced to choose between expensive new books or used copies shipped from the U.S.—with high shipping costs and the unpredictability of brokerage fees, import taxes, and tariffs.

That frustration exposed a deeper problem: Canadian readers and researchers struggle to access affordable, sustainable books, even as thousands of important stories in our own backyard are discarded or left forgotten in storage.

If a PhD candidate in Art History can’t easily access the building blocks of Canadian visual culture, the system is broken.

I believe books deserve more than one life. They deserve a second chapter.

That belief became Maple & Page — a Canadian-only used book marketplace built on accessibility, transparency, and sustainability. Every rescued book is hand-evaluated using a universal condition table, so readers know exactly what they’re getting and can trust every purchase.

We’re currently harvesting our first 1,000 “Hero Books”—carefully selected, high-quality used titles—starting in Kingston, with plans to open our permanent Ottawa studio in Fall 2026.

By joining Maple & Page early, you’re helping build a community that keeps Canadian books circulating, accessible, and out of landfills.
