Workshop start:
Date: October 7, 18:00-20:00 (Budapest time)
But don't worry, if you can't make it live, there will be a replay and you'll get the presents too!
Hungarian is not difficult if you know the rules of the game! 🎲🎰
It’s hard to win a board game if you don’t even know what to do, right? I know it’s not easy to learn Hungarian without help.
You keep seeing your mistakes, but you don’t know how to get rid of them. Join my free workshop, where I will help you learn all the rules of the present tense through practical examples and exercises, and get rid of most of your typical mistakes!
Do you also constantly confuse when to use "szeretek" and when to use "szeretem"?
With just one important rule, you could remember for a lifetime which one to use when, but no one has told you this rule yet, right? Yet this is a real joker card because if you know this, you'll be able to use all verbs correctly.
🫵
You don’t know which verb ending to use (én: tanulok, lakom, eszem, főzök, te: tanulsz, segítesz, eszel, főzöd) and why.
🫵
You want to talk to your Hungarian family, but you can’t find the words, you can’t express yourself, so it always ends up like playing Activity?
Don’t worry, it’s actually simpler than you think!
The Hungarian language is very logical, and if you know the rules of the game, you can easily navigate through the maze of endings and verb conjugation.
In just two hours, I can teach you all the rules and essentials of present tense conjugation, so you’ll never be in trouble when you need to speak Hungarian.
Join my free workshop for Hungarian learners, where I’ll teach you how to use the present tense.
In the workshop, we’ll cover:
What type of verb it is and how to know which group it belongs to
Present tense in Hungarian, indefinite conjugation
Present tense, definite conjugation
I will teach you how to conjugate all verb types in all numbers and persons, and show you all the personal verb endings
I will show you when there is a definite and when there is an indefinite object in a sentence and how to decide this
I will teach you when to use definite and when to use indefinite conjugation
I will give you a detailed list of the most frequently used, most important verbs that you can use, grouped by verb type, with Hungarian and English translations, as well as Hungarian-English example sentences
After the theoretical explanation, we’ll practice as well
At the end of the workshop, you can ask your questions
What do you get if you join the workshop?
A workbook that summarizes the entire present tense conjugation system, as well as the definite and indefinite conjugation, with colorful, easy-to-understand tables and Hungarian-English explanations, so you have a reference to review what you learned during the workshop later on.
A live, approximately two hours session where I explain the theory with lots of examples, followed by exercises that we’ll practice together.
At the end of the workshop, you’ll be free to ask all your questions related to the present tense.
A Google spreadsheet that I’ve compiled with the most important verbs, categorized by verb type, along with Hungarian-English example sentences, so you always have the most commonly used verbs at hand.
Who is this workshop for?
It’s for you if you want to learn how to use the Hungarian language correctly and need some help.
It’s for you if you never know when to use definite or indefinite conjugation.
It’s for you if you’ve been learning Hungarian for a while, but your speech and writing are full of mistakes.
This won’t be a traditional Hungarian lesson. While I will explain things, I strive to make the session fun and engaging. My goal is to learn while having a good time together.
Who is this workshop not for?
Since I’m also expecting complete beginners to join this workshop, I will be using English a lot during the session. So, if you feel that learning Hungarian only makes sense if the lesson is conducted entirely in Hungarian, then this might not be for you, as I will explain everything in English as well.

Who is leading this workshop?
My name is Csilla Kovács, and I am a Hungarian teacher with a master's degree. I started teaching Hungarian as a foreign language in 2015, then after university, I taught at the Debrecen Summer University.
In 2021, I founded my own business, and since then, I’ve been teaching Hungarian full-time.
Even after graduating, I didn’t stop developing myself. In recent years, I’ve attended numerous further training courses to stay up-to-date with the latest methods and approaches in language teaching.
I understood the importance of self-confidence through my personal language-learning experiences. Over the past few years, I’ve specialized in helping beginner learners who are afraid to speak Hungarian. Confidence is a key building block for success, and I believe this workshop is a great opportunity to help you gain confidence in your language skills through a sense of achievement.
Over the years, I've learned something: The goal of language learning is communication. We want to understand what is being said, respond, and speak ourselves. The shortest and most enjoyable way to achieve this is through texts.
Why do I offer a free Hungarian lesson online?
You might be wondering why I would invest so much work into this workshop just to offer it for free. Let me explain what motivated me to do this:
As a language teacher, it’s beneficial for me to attract students who already have a grasp of the basics. The present tense is one of the most important and frequently used grammatical forms.
I love connecting with people, and I believe that a live training session is a great opportunity for both of us to connect and get to know each other.
Teaching languages is my passion, and since 2015, I’ve dreamed of making this my dream job. I genuinely enjoy teaching.
As a master's degree holder in Hungarian teaching, I’ve noticed an increasing number of "teachers" without proper qualifications and expertise. I believe it’s important to show that professional knowledge truly matters to students. With me, you’ll learn the correct way, because I studied for five and a half years at university and continue to attend training courses, learning from the best (my mentors are Szilvia Szita and Kata Pelcz, the authors of the MagyarOK textbook series).
This isn't the first thing I've given away for free to students. My Instagram page has nearly 400 posts, my podcast has been available for free for over a year, and all three of my courses have included scholarships, where one participant could learn for free. I do all this because I believe that knowledge should be accessible to everyone. I come from a family of hardship where I could use the free help and it has helped me get to where I am now.
FAQ:
What level of students is this workshop for?
I recommend it for everyone from complete beginners to advanced learners because you won’t find such detailed and thorough information anywhere else.
The tasks will be at three levels of difficulty, from beginner to advanced. As a complete beginner, it is important to understand the system and structure from the beginning to avoid learning something incorrectly (which is much harder to correct later).
The workbook and useful verb collection will be helpful from zero to B2 level!
When and where will the workshop be?
7 October 2024, from 18:00 to about 20:00 (Budapest time), location: Google Meet. (I will send you the link by e-mail in the days before the workshop.)
Will it be available for replay?
Yes, the workshop will be available for replay for a limited time, but if you can, attend live, as you will understand the theoretical part much better and we will immediately put the knowledge into practice.
Moreover, you can only take advantage of the opportunity to ask questions if you attend the workshop live.
Psss! 🤫 I have an extra surprise prepared for participants, which I will only reveal live.
In what language will the workshop be?
Since I expect complete beginners to attend, I will mainly speak in English.
I will first explain the simpler things in Hungarian, but then I will also say them in English to ensure everyone understands.
I am very shy and don’t want to participate “live” in the workshop and I’m afraid to speak. What should I do?
Don't worry, if you're really shy, come anyway, because if you don't say anything all the time, nothing will happen.
There will be some questions when I ask participants about where they are coming from, how long they have been learning Hungarian and why, but you can answer them in the chat (if you even want to), and in the practical part, when we do exercises, I will show the exercise, you will do it, and I will show you the solution and tell you why it's the right answer - so you don't have to say anything.
And you can also ask your question in the chat at the end.
And of course, you can use English, this won’t be a speaking lesson.
How can I access the workbook and the useful verb collection?
After registration, I will send both via email, along with the details needed to attend the workshop (video call link, time, etc.).
If you can’t dedicate two hours to your improvement, especially when it costs you nothing, you need to reconsider if you really want to learn Hungarian.
Don’t miss this unique opportunity, as it has never been offered before. Come, have fun, learn a lot, and then apply what you’ve learned when you next chat with your Hungarian family and impress them!
