You'll need an electronic device with internet access for Zoom, a quiet space to relax and focus, room to lie down (about arm's width), comfortable clothing that doesn't restrict movement, and perhaps a towel, pillow, yoga mat, or rug for comfort.

I am a former neurosurgery PA who saved myself from burnout, body pains, overwhelm, and exhaustion by learning hypnosis, neuro-linguistic programming, the Feldenkrais Method®, Compassion Key®, and energy psychology (including "tapping").

During this 90-minute free online workshop with group AWARENESS THROUGH MOVEMENT® class, you'll learn ways to reconnect to your body's inner wisdom and blueprints for healthy, efficient movements.

There will be a short explanation of the method and its importance before we start the class, and an opportunity to ask questions or share your experience afterward.

Increase Your Presence: A Path to Healing and Self-Awareness

If you find it challenging to meditate, ground yourself, or stay present in your body, experience difficulties with self-regulation, this class is designed just for you. Awareness Through Movement (ATM) is not an exercise class—it's an awareness class. In these sessions, we explore movement patterns slowly as we are looking for the ways to decrease effort, focusing on sensing rather than doing.

Reduce Disassociation: Trauma can cause our consciousness to become fragmented or stuck, impacting our ability to fully engage with our bodies and our environment. This disconnection can lead to maladaptive patterns and physical discomfort.

Reconnecting with the Body: The method focuses on returning to our body's original, efficient movement patterns. By exploring these patterns, we help our nervous system recall what might have been lost or forgotten due to life experiences.

Blueprints of Movement: Our lessons often revisit developmental stages of movement, helping your body reconnect with its innate, optimal ways of moving.

Neuroscience Insights: Each class integrates concepts from neuroscience. I'll guide you through these ideas as we move

and rest, helping you connect them with your experience.

If you face challenges with trauma, or feel activated or off-track, finding ways to calm and return to yourself is crucial. This work can help you regain your sense of self and improve how you interact with your body and mind.

Overview of the Method: Awareness Through Movement® (ATM®) classes are part of the Feldenkrais Method®, offering the benefits of this approach to individuals or groups. Participants explore their movements and patterns independently, guided by the teacher.

Feldenkrais Method® was developed by scientist and Judo practitioner Moshe Feldenkrais (1904-1984).

The Feldenkrais Method® is a unique approach that combines insights from physics, body mechanics and neuroscience. Moshe Feldenkrais also was very much interested in hypnosis throughout times he was developing, practicing and teaching his method.

As your nervous system learns new or forgotten movement patterns and reconsiders old movement habits, the process brings you increasing flexibility and adaptation physically and psychologically.

What to Expect during Awareness Through Movement® class:

  • Slow, Mindful Movements: Go slow and pay attention to each movement.

  • Less is More: Do less and observe the quality of your movements.

  • Focus on Beginnings: Notice how you start each movement.

  • No Pain: If a movement is uncomfortable, do less or imagine it instead.

  • Allow Shaking: If you notice shakiness, let it happen—this could be trauma releasing from your muscle memory.

*This is NOT a stretching, strength-building, or yoga class, but it will help you perform better in those activities and avoid injuries.

Key Points to Know for the Best Experience:

Comfort: Ensure you are warm enough. Some participants find it helpful to have a blanket nearby, as body temperature can drop when relaxing. Also, have a towel or pillow on hand for head support to prevent discomfort from distracting you.

Stay Open: We’ll touch on neuroscience concepts and how they relate to your movements, helping you understand the deeper connections between body, mind, and emotions.

Remember: Slow down, stay curious, and breathe. This is your time to explore and reconnect.
