What is the School of Evershade?
The School of Evershade is a 12-month immersive curriculum in a box, where students learn real-world skills through a magical lens. Designed for ages 12+, each monthly delivery supports a thoughtfully sequenced, interdisciplinary curriculum using high-quality tools, hands-on projects, and structured Materia Magica lesson books. Subjects include potion-making, herbology, scrollwork, runes, creative arts, and more.
Enrollment opens through Kickstarter on July 1st. Early supporters will become our Founding Students and receive exclusive rewards, early access, and a chance to help bring the school to life.

What You'll Learn at Evershade
Potions – Learn to brew, bottle, and label real potions using historical methods and natural ingredients. Students will work with their own beginner cauldron to create glycerites, infused oils, salves, creams, gel-based mixtures, and balms - practicing safe heating, pouring, and potion storage. They'll explore texture, scent, shelf life, and herbal function while learning proper tools and techniques for each type of preparation. Every potion teaches hands-on skills that look and feel like magic - because they are real, useful concoctions they'll make themselves.
Herbology – Grow and care for your own living apothecary. Students will plant seeds, tend herbs, observe growth stages, and harvest botanicals for use in potions and projects throughout the year. They'll learn to identify plant properties, track changes, and handle herbs with care - building practical gardening skills that connect directly to potion-making and more. Each herb they grow becomes a new ingredient in their magical toolkit.
Scrollwork – Write with elegance and precision using real parchment, ink, and a dip quill. Students will practice calligraphy strokes, label-making, and the lost art of sealing correspondence with wax. They'll also create their own ink from natural ingredients, learning about pigment, permanence, and presentation. Scrollwork blends artistry with discipline, giving students a way to document their discoveries and present their projects like true scholars of the arcane.
Runes – Unlock the meaning behind ancient symbols and make them your own. Students will study 24 historical runes, learn their phonetic sounds and uses, and create their own carved or stamped rune guide. They'll apply runes across subjects - marking pots, labeling tools, and integrating them into craftwork - while building memory and language skills along the way. This isn't a spiritual system; it's a hands-on introduction to early literacy, logic, and creative application.
Creative Arts – Bring the magic to life with hand-crafted tools, personalized labels, potion accessories, and more. Each project helps reinforce what students have learned through functional creativity - like decorating rune sets, customizing potion jars, or shaping their own clay artifacts. These projects don't just look magical - they serve real academic purposes, encouraging independence, design thinking, and pride in their work.
Headmaster Squirty’s Notes – At the start of each quarter, students receive a wax sealed scroll from Headmaster Squirty - a gray squirrel in charge of Evershade. His letters are short, friendly check-ins that welcome students to the term, reflect on their progress, and offer a lighthearted overview of what's ahead. These scrolls don't contain lessons - they're there to build connection, celebrate milestones, and remind students that even a magical school needs a bit of encouragement (especially from a squirrel who somehow became headmaster).
ABOUT ME
My name is Kali.
Why I Created Evershade
I didn’t initially build this as a business idea. I built it because I wanted to create something that didn’t exist.
I have four kids—middle and high schoolers—and I’ve always loved the idea of magical school. But not just costume cloaks and prop wands. I wanted the real thing. A place where you actually learn to grow herbs, brew things in a cauldron, write with a quill, and seal scrolls with wax. Where the tools aren’t just pretty—they’re used.
I wondered if other people felt that way too. So I started designing Evershade.
It’s for the kids who never got a letter by owl post.
It’s for hands-on learners, crafty teens, fantasy fans, herbalists, cottagecore dreamers, and neurodivergent creatives who want something different.
It’s for anyone who wants education that feels like a story, but teaches you something real.
Evershade is a magical curriculum disguised as a fantasy adventure. There’s no symbolism, no rituals, and no metaphysical claims—just real history, science, and botanical skill-building wrapped in enchantment.
I’ve poured everything into designing the lessons, writing the books, and choosing every jar, wax seal, soil pellet, and scroll. Now I just need the funding to print, assemble, and launch it.
If this speaks to you—even a little—I hope you’ll help me make it real.
