STAND UP 2 SCI
Let's Get Standing
Discover cutting-edge Standing Overload Progression techniques to help you or your loved ones achieve extraordinary results.
Standing Overload Progression
What it is & How it Helps SCI Patients
Before you can walk, you must first stand—and that’s where our program begins. Progressive overload therapy gradually challenges your body, starting with maximum assistance and progressively reducing that support as you gain strength and control. Unlike traditional therapies that rely on mechanical devices to bear your weight, our approach ensures your body does the work, forcing it to adapt, grow stronger, and restore neural connections.
We’ve adapted these principles into a functional, SCI-specific program where the helper and patient work as a team to reduce pressure, maintain form, and track progress.
The number one rule in our program is simple—the patient never falls.
The ultimate goal is to reduce assistance until you can stand on your own—a key step toward walking again.
Small gains are big wins:
Standing strengthens your blood flow, bone density, and muscle function. And even if you don’t make massive breakthroughs right away, both you and your helper get a great workout in.
Measure your progress:
Use feedback from your body and helper to gauge improvement. For those who prefer data, we recommend using the mTrigger device to track muscle activation and performance.

Our Story
Our Journey
Our journey began when Tyson, a talented FMX dirt bike rider, was left paralyzed after a car accident. When doctors told us he would never walk or ride again, we refused to accept that. We knew there had to be a better way, and that’s when we discovered progressive overload therapy taught to us by No Bullshit Rehab —a method that prioritizes standing exercises as the foundation for regaining mobility.
Our Program
Our programs Stand Up 2 SCI was founded to share this knowledge and help others facing similar challenges. Our program focuses on functional balance, muscle strength, and nerve regeneration. We believe that standing is the first step towards walking again, and we are here to guide you through that process.
Our Why
Why we looked into other options is because we realized that while the best spinal cord hospitals focused on functionality, our goal was mobility and independence. We weren’t just looking for therapy to help Tyson adapt to his new reality—we were searching for the tools to help him overcome it.

4 LEVELS OF PROGRESSION
From Beginner to Stepping Strong: Unlocking Mobility with Standing Overload Techniques
1. Beginner: Foundation Building
At the Beginner Level, you will focus on developing core stability, balance, and building foundational strength in the trunk and legs. With maximum partner support, you’ll get comfortable holding a standing position before moving on to more advanced movements.
2. Intermediate: Strength & Stability
In the Intermediate Level, you’ll begin reducing reliance on your partner and develop the ability to hold balance for longer periods. We introduce bands, core strengthening, and dynamic movements as you prepare for independent standing.
3. Advanced: Standing Independence
This level is all about achieving independent standing. You will practice holding your balance with no support, build knee strength through locking drills, and prepare for movement-based exercises.
4. Step Training: Taking Your First Steps
In the Step Training level, you’ll focus on mastering the mechanics of stepping. This is the final level where we work on building the strength, balance, and coordination needed to take independent steps forward, backward, and side-to-side.
