📖 About the SWBP
What is the Student Well-Being Project?
The SWBP is a virtual community designed to help students succeed academically while prioritizing mental well-being and personal development.
Whether you're navigating college applications, dealing with academic stress, or seeking clarity on your path, this space is here to support and uplift you.
Why Does it Matter?
✅ Many students enter higher education without a clear vision for their future and struggle with stress, uncertainty, and lack of mentorship.
✅ Traditional education often focuses on academic success but fails to support emotional and personal development.
Our Goal:
By the time students graduate, they should have a clearer sense of direction, greater emotional resilience, and the confidence to stand firmly in their truth—not just in their academic field but in life as a whole.

ABOUT
Hey, I'm Dr. Crystal!✨
First-Gen Yale PhD | Global Student Mentor | Best-Selling Author | TEDx Speaker
As a first-generation Yale PhD graduate, U.S. Army Officer, and holistic health advocate, I’ve dedicated my life to helping students unlock their full potential—both inside and beyond the classroom.
Raised in public housing, I spent 11 years as a full-time student, ultimately earning four college degrees by the age of 29 and securing over $670,000 in scholarships, including the prestigious Bill & Melinda Gates Millennium Scholarship. That journey taught me not only the importance of education, but the power of resilience, mentorship, and self-belief.
Through my work as a researcher, author, and certified Academic Success Coach, I’ve had the privilege of mentoring students from around the world—helping them navigate academic stress, clarify their goals, and gain the confidence to pursue paths aligned with their true potential.
Whether supporting high school seniors applying to Ivy League universities or first-gen students facing overwhelming pressure, I bring evidence-based tools, deep empathy, and lived experience to every step of the journey.
Through the Student Well-Being Project, my mission is clear: to empower students to thrive holistically—academically, emotionally, and purposefully—so they can live lives rooted in clarity, confidence, and well-being.

💬 What Students Are Saying…
During times when I felt like giving up -the most while in my master's degree program, Crystal was always so willing to actively listen and support me as a friend, sister, and mentor. One of my favorite things about Crystal is her positivity and resiliency through our conversations.
I am confident that I can share anything with Crystal without judgment. I do not doubt that she will be such a wonderful and valuable resource for all students, especially first-generation minority students like me.
Christine V.
Graduate Student, The George Washington University
I am incredibly grateful for the support that Crystal provided as she mentored me through my first research and publication experience. She perfectly balanced constructive feedback and guidance while encouraging independent thinking, giving me the confidence to conduct research on my own. Thanks to her mentorship, I always felt both supported and capable.
Crystal was also incredibly kind and approachable, so I never hesitated to come forward with questions or concerns. With Crystal’s help, I was admitted to my dream school, and I could not be more thankful for her guidance!
Katie G.
Undergraduate Student, Cornell University
Crystal was technically just supposed to be my research mentor, but she ended up becoming so much more than that. She created this space where I felt like I could open up, trust her, and go to her for advice, not just about research, but about anything. You can tell how passionate she is within moments of talking to her, and she brought that same energy into our work together, which made me genuinely excited to do research as well.
During the time she was my mentor, she provided me with reassuring support, somehow always knowing what to say to help me feel supported and remind me that everything would be okay, and she was right!
Anjali S.
High School Junior
Crystal is a complete inspiration. I nervously reached out to her to go over my graduate school goals, and I was thrilled to see how genuinely excited she was to help me. She provided me with resources that have made my graduate school experience so much easier!
Her response time is always exceptional, and her mentorship has been so encouraging.
Diamond C.
Graduate Student, Tulane University
Crystal has been an invaluable mentor who fosters an environment that perfectly balances challenge with support. Her ability to push me to think critically and approach complex problems in my community with confidence has been instrumental in my academic development.
Beyond her expertise, Crystal’s commitment to excellence and genuine passion for her work has been a constant source of inspiration.
Lydia S.
High School Senior
Crystal is inspirational and a great motivator. When I started looking for graduate programs and she gave me insight and advice for selecting a school. I highly recommend coming to her because she’s patient and insightful.
