Helping your child to avoid the summer slide!
So what is Summer Slide, how can this summer challenge help my child?
Due to the extended break of the summer holidays, some children experience a loss of learning, which can be up to a 20% decline in maths and English skills. This phenomenon called ‘summer slide’ is something I have witnessed in my time as a classroom teacher. Without regular educational activities, children can struggle to retain the knowledge and skills they acquired in the previous academic year.
To mitigate the summer slide, it is important to encourage children to engage in educational activities during the summer holidays. This can include reading, puzzles, educational games, attending educational clubs or camps and practicing skills in fun ways.
Children, who actively participate in educational activities during the summer, can minimise the impact of the summer slide and enter the new school year with a stronger foundation of knowledge and skills.
The Summer Challenge:
I guarantee fun, learning opportunities with no desk required, unless you want to use one of course.
Over the six weeks of the summer holidays from 22nd July – 31st August 2023 you will receive no less than twenty-four challenges. These will be a mixture of maths and English, most can be completed indoors or outdoors, most take up only a short period of time. These will be delivered straight to your inbox (4 challenges per week). You will also receive our Free updated guide - Top Ten Tips to Beat the Summer Slide and Support your Child to Excel in September.
You can join our summer challenge Facebook group, where you can share which challenges you (your child/family) have tried and chat to other parents, and ask me any questions. You can join the group today. At the end of the six week’s I will email you a link so you can download your child/children’s choice of certificate for taking part in the summer challenge (there will be 4 designs available to choose form).

Hello my name is Nicola Sanders and I am a caring and patient qualified Primary Teacher and experienced Online Tutor. I have been supporting children and their families for over 12 years.
I'm all about making learning an enjoyable experience, supporting children to develop both their self-confidence and attainment levels. I am passionate about promoting and celebrating mistakes as fantastic learning opportunities to help children to grow and thrive. Offering bespoke learning enables children to be involved in their own learning, thus lessons are always tailored to children’s individual needs and interests to help them reach their full potential. Supporting all children to build their confidence and self belief, enabling them to learn at their own pace.
Over the last 5 years I have supported numerous children from those in Reception just starting their educational journey to those in Year 7 beginning their secondary education. If you feel I can help send me a message or email.
