Hey, I’m Julie K., founder of the Diabetic Travelers Network,
Diagnosed with Type 1 in 1997, I’ve learned firsthand what it means to adapt, evolve, and thrive with T1D. My mission is to empower people with T1D to uncover their inner strength through travel and live life without limits.
Over the past nine years, I’ve traveled to 29 countries, become an expat, mastered two foreign languages, and crossed the finish line of an Ironman 70.3.
My work on the transformative power of travel for those living with diabetes has been featured in Health, JDRF, Withings, Sweet Life, and more.
Along the way, I discovered: life with diabetes can be extraordinary.
Through DTN®, I’ve empowered thousands of T1Ds to travel with confidence, build lasting self-confidence, and unlock life-changing adventures.
Our exclusive membership and luxury group trips are more than just travel—they’re a space where you T1D feel seen, understood, and build lifelong friendships.
The DTN®️ isn’t just a travel company—it’s a movement.
We take diabetes with us, adapting it to our lives and desires—not the other way around. Diabetes no longer controls us. It fades into the background because we’ve learned how to manage it on the road—and from there everyday life becomes a piece of cake!
This work is a gateway to not only discovering the world but rediscovering your own strength, confidence, and living fully—whether it’s your first trip outside the U.S. or your next step toward claiming the life of freedom you deserve.
